nfreeman Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 No, this implies it's inadvertent. I think most of us have made the conscious decision to bury our heads in the sand and pay as little attention as possible to the defense corps. And goaltending! Don't forget about pretending there's no scary goaltending situation! John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl 3m3 minutes ago Cody McCormick (blood clots), Zach Bogosian (lower body) and Brendan Guhle (upper body) not on ice. I think we may see a week or two of the season before things even begin to shake out. Let's just wait and see what Bylsma and Murray do. I hope Guhle is at least getting some benefit from being around the team and coaches, in the meetings, watching film, etc. at the NHL level. It kinda seems like they're going to keep him around until he's healthy and then give him a few games. Shudder.....I thought the same. Not a great second pair to start the season. No indeed, and also... I'm not huge on an all-rookie pairing either, to be honest. I'd rather they go Weber-Pysyk and McCabe-Franson until Bogosian is ready to go. The all-rookie pairing is troublesome too. Unless, that is, the 3rd pairing is Coco and Donovan. Quote

I'd rather they go Weber-Pysyk and McCabe-Franson until Bogosian is ready to go. Meh, Pysyk has played 70 NHL games to this point and has been playing professional hockey for three full years (four years removed from his draft). He may still be defined as a rook but he's got some decent NHL experience. Weber and Franson both scare me a bit 5 on 5 so I would rather pair them together and give them low minutes 5 on 5 with Franson getting PP1 time. Quote

LGR4GM Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Risto too young? I am not sure how much of a leader he is yet. Also yes, too young. Another year maybe. Jack Eichel will be captain of this team I think at some point. He just oozes leadership. Quote

LGR4GM Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 I think ROR gets an A Good call, I forgot about him  too many new and good players Quote
Thwomp! Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Good call, I forgot about him  too many new and good players I could see the dreaded "rotating A's" on this team. We have alot of potential leaders: Pretty much anyone on our first two lines, Girgs, Risto, Gorges, maybe more. This team does not lack for potential leaders, and it's evident that Murray is looking for them specifically when he's making moves. Quote
Derrico Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Good call, I forgot about him  too many new and good players Nice thing to have this year. Should be a fun season at the very least. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Good call, I forgot about him  too many new and good players You forgot about him? Obviously me mentioning him less since the trade has had very real consequences. It's okay, once the season starts I will resume regular fawning. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Moulson-O'Reilly-Ennis Kane-Eichel-Gionta Foligno-Girgensons-Reinhart Deslauriers-Legwand-Larsson/McGinn John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl 22m22 minutes ago Sabres' defense: Gorges-Ristolainen, Weber-Franson, McCabe-Pysyk, Donovan-Colaiacovo. Per Hoppe (Olean), these guys, along with the two goalies (who're they again?), are the 23-man roster for opening night. And of these guys John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl 3m3 minutes ago Cody McCormick (blood clots), Zach Bogosian (lower body) and Brendan Guhle (upper body) not on ice. I think we may see a week or two of the season before things even begin to shake out. Let's just wait and see what Bylsma and Murray do. is it really just Bogosian who's going to necessitate a move by 1 of those 23? If so, it would be a d-man. I presume that McCormick will be assigned to Roch. once he's well enough, and that Guhle will go back to juniors. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 And goaltending! Don't forget about pretending there's no scary goaltending situation! I group that in with the defense. After all, it's easier to ignore one thing than two. Quote

Thwomp! Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Vogl: Sabres place Zach Bogosian, Brendan Guhle, Cody McCormick and Bobby Sanguinetti on IR to start the season. I hope Phaneuf answers for that hit on Guhle the first time we play Toronto. Borderline (putting it kindly) dirty, and definitely over the line for preseason. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Bobby Sanguinetti What's a Bobby Sanguinetti? How long is IR in the NHL? IIRC, it's a weirdly malleable status that can be revoked at almost any time. Quote
Hoss Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 IR is a seven-day list, but it's from the date of the injury. Normally the team will announce it as retroactive to the date of the injury so if they didn't they may be anticipating that Bogosian will be out more than a week. Once the player is a week separated from their injury they can be removed from IR. Quote

Thwomp! Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Akeson against Ottawa? Well yeah, they might retaliate, but Akeson is gone. We're going to see Phaneuf's ugly mug alot this year. Quote
