WildCard Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Never had a family member die (well, one that I was really close to at least), never seen my team win a championship, I got nothing. I don't know what I'd do in either situation, probably heavy emotions fueled by alcohol in both cases. Quote
deluca67 Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 "equivalent low to a Stanley Cup High" is two torturous seasons just to end up with the next Alexandre Daigle instead of the next Sidney Crosby. The greater the expectations the greater chance of disappointment. Quote

BagBoy Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Why all the angst? Can we all agree that charity is better than greed? So let’s look at it this way. Edmonton has a rich and brilliant hockey tradition, and they have great fans. It’s just a shame that they have finished dead last for so many years in the recent past. For crying out loud, they have tens of thousands of CHILDREN there, who are devoted Oilers fans, and this repeatedly finishing last business just can’t be good for their psyches! It’s hard enough living there as it is without the stigma of being dead last – yet again. These people intentionally eat heavily salted licorice! Why would any good soul want this team to finish last again? --Totally not kidding about the salty licorice – the Dutch influence-- Quote

I am Defecting Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Yes, children. When speaking to my boy about hockey, I would like to mention this proud tradition of good fans in Buffalo, if it were not for all of the fans shamelessly jacking off to the next top draft pick. Self gratification is what the tank is all about. McEichel is Porn. You WISH. You wishy-wash-your-hands of any beliefs. in YOUR OPINION this would be THE BEST! Never a real underdog manboy like Mitch Marner. If I didn't know that it was only a few crazies, and not the real fans (majority), I would go crazy - just like masturbators, you hyperbole tank freak jackoffs. Keep pretending... While you lose. WildCard Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 We want to lose one season out of the 45 we've had and all of the sudden we're masochists. Quote
woods-racer Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 McEichel isn't porn, I won't go blind watching hockey!!! Quote
stenbaro Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 I am all in on the Tank...The reason we have been tore down to a skeleton crew was so we could build with great young players. Im tired of hearing they are players and they play to win. If thats the case then do it when it counts, not when your in DEAD LAST in the entire league with 10 games to go. Give it rest you tried your best already when it mattered and you sucked.. Please for the sake of all us fans who have bore witness to your pathetic play for 2 years please continue for ten more games and stop acting like you care now.... Quote
I am Defecting Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 To clarify: not masturbators who to real things, that's fine. He whacks, he waits, we scores! Thats great! Masturbators while watching imaginary McEichel porn. Those are delusional. We score. Damn... think I'll watch some more McEichel porn because reality sucks. Quote

rumblefish Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 justifying wrong will not ever change it from being wrong, losing on purpose for any reason is wrong, and always will be in my opinion Quote
... Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) I don't think this can be answered honestly, unless you're a fan of a team in a different sport that has won it all. Even so, when the Sabres finally win a Stanley Cup, it will be a special moment for the entire western half of NYS. It will probably be recognized as a special event throughout all of western civilization (by this, I mean that it will make the evening news outside of our region, because of how special the event was, although perhaps not quite so special to folks who are not Sabres fans, dig...). Can you honestly find an antipodes to that? Shooting your dog because you're drunk and he was barking too much at night only to sober up and realize what you had done? I can only imagine the circumstance would have to be one where you do something horrible, only to recognize the error of your ways and suffer great regret. No? I mean, stepping barefoot in a pile of dog crap just doesn't seem to cut it. Edited March 19, 2015 by SiZzlEmIsTEr Quote
MattPie Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 I've gotten there, too. But the "low" would be, I don't know, losing a Cup because of a staph infection or a bad call. This. The only equivalent to winning the cup is losing it, probably in a Game 7 OT situation (in Leafs-like implosion style). So close, so much emotion invested, just to have it taken away in an instant. Anything further out, like a game 6 loss or the ECF finals loss is close but no cigar. The equivalent low in hockey would be sitting firmly in a playoff position with 15 or so games to go then watching your star player, in a free agent year, go down with a horrible injury to kick off a losing spiral to 7th to last... Don't get a great pick, lose your star and no playoff hockey. I guess. Not really. 15 games out you have the ability to initially hope that the team can pull together. They might even do it in the first few games. By time it's clear that the team isn't making the playoffs you can be totally numb to the situation and chalk it up to an injury and hope for next year. Maybe it's this parenthood thing that I've recently been thrust into (and am just starting to understand), but this season feels like watching your kid struggle with something. You (well, GMTM in the Sabres' case) could probably make it easier for them, but you hope that the struggle will make them a better person in the long run. Quote
ddaryl Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 I honestly can say that what this team has done since Pegula has taken over has taken away some of my passion for this team. Not just the record but how they have gone about it. I want my owner and my team to have more pride than accepting to play at the level they have let this team get to. This team has reached such a low that reaching the ultimate high seems light years away. its called a gut and rebuild. way over do and very very necessary. Reiger screwed this team up Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 You're in as well. Thanks, but you know what ... I have a recurring dream / nightmare that I am running for an elevator. There are two to choose from that both doors are closing on. I just have to get to where I am going, so I pick one. I jam my leg into the closing door and pry it open and just manage to squeeze myself into it. I breath a sigh of relief and look to the elevator operator (yeah, I'm old ... I remember those elevator operators) and to my horror General Ratko Mladić (Google him, if you must) is the operator. As he pushes the down button I look out to the other elevator and see that Jesus, Moses and Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Them) are operating that elevator. Quote
