I know Ovie does it.  I think with the Sabres, Stewart was playing it a bit differently.  He was pitching in on the defensive coverage, but as soon as a forward had the puck he'd start skating out and the other forward would lob it up in the air.  It actually helps the team because with his early release from the D-zone it negated the icing because he either got there first or the other team's defense would be there to get the puck.  So the way the Sabres were executing it, it actually helped the defensive coverage.
