Claude_Verret Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 That isn't happening. This team is a LONG ways from being a bubble playoff team. Yeah I meant 2017 deadline. Next year we are a lottery team again. Quote
sicknfla Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) they will absolutely will be a playoff caliber team in 2017.I agree with '17. I was responding to being a bubble team in '16. We have one more year of rebuilding/developing and then we should be in good shape. Edited March 2, 2015 by sicknfla Quote
dudacek Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 Fort the record, with Stewart and Neuvirth traded, the final return on the Miller deal is a first, second, third and Carrier. Gets a little better if either Stewart or Neuvirth re-sign. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 Sabres were 3-16-2 after last year's deadline. Can this team be worse? Quote
MattPie Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 Did Harrington forget we already have the MIN 2nd in 2016? Mike Harrington @BNHarrington · 1m1 minute ago Im still trying to grasp a second-round pick for Stewart in 2017. I guess a 2nd is a 2nd if that's your goal. But jeez. Not even '16? I come not to defend Harrington, but other teams still have 2016 seconds. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 That was a misfire on me: MTL has the MIN 2016 2nd, because we traded it for Gorges. I come not to defend Harrington, but other teams still have 2016 seconds. He mad. Mike Harrington @BNHarrington · 1m1 minute ago Hey Twitter gotcha mob I KNOW SABRES HAVE MINNY'S 2ND IN '16. Find another team to deal with then is my point. Wait for GMTM's presser. Quote

K-9 Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 Also, fwiw and with full warning to those who hate #fancystats, there was informed talk out there about how Stewart was/is, in fact, not very good: /high five /another high five I think this is a pretty good indictment of his play and fully validates what I've seen from him on the ice. These stats indicate a problem with desire in my book, which results in the kind of inconsistent play we've seen from him. There is no reason for someone that fast and strong to be so weak in the puck possession department. He just doesn't want it bad enough, often enough. GO SABRES!!! Quote
Eleven Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 Wait for what? Harrington Beast Mode? He's going to prove how much he knows by asking GMTM stupid questions until GMTM gets up and leaves, thereby proving Mike is on to something? I don't hate this guy nearly as much as many of you do. I'm kind of indifferent with respect to him, nah, maybe I even kind of like him. He's no Bucky or Sully, but he's no Bill Hoppe either. I'm still wondering what Hoppe did to be stuck in Olean. Quote

deluca67 Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 That 2017 2nd rounder might come in handy say at the 2016 2017 deadline when we might be a bubble team challenging for a playoff spot.... edit: meant 2017 deadline, in 2016 even though it's a tankless season, this team is once again a dead cinch lock as a lottery team IMO. How about 2019? Here we are in 2014-15 and what are the Sabres realistically taking forward? Girgensons, two young blue liners, the hopes of whoever the top pick and what? I for one was hoping to come out of this mess of a season with something more going forward. I see two possibly three more lotteries in the Sabres future. Quote

Huckleberry Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 I'll take that. I'd rather have a second in 2017 than a third/fourth in 2015. Same Not impressed with with Murray's moves today. Don't think we could have gotten more out of it, He impressed me that he got 4 UFA's unloaded. Quote

As a bubble team if they miss the playoffs then they are a lottery team again. As to the bolded I'll start with Kane and Reinhart. Quote

Kane & Bogosian are a good answer, Reinhart I won't start counting on until he shows he can play in the NHL. I feel the Sabre way about all the prospects. If more of the prospects turn out like Girgensons than say Grigorenko than you may be right on with your timeline. Edited March 2, 2015 by DeLuca1967 Quote
SabresBillsFan Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 My instant reaction is similar to Neuvirth's: the trade stinks unless they can re-sign him as a free agent. (p.s. Plus the tank of course) If it wasn't for the prizes in the top 2 of this draft I think neither would have been moved. Quote
CallawaySabres Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 I would like to thank Stewart for his parting Tank Gift when he avalanched the Panthers comeback putting us 2 men down.... Quote

matter2003 Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 Not impressed with with Murray's moves today. Likely knew he was desperate to move them and everyone was trying to give up as little as possible..hard to get a fair deal when your back is against the wall to move players Quote
Stoner Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 Olean has an Applebee's. And a seven-screen theater. And a Kohl's. And Beef and Barrel. Take it back, Eleven. Quote
