Samson's Flow Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 I'm with Tank on this one, we have a thread dedicated to each topic, it's not hard to figure out where to go. Lets not get all 'Two Bills Drive' up in here. Thread anarchy is not the way to go. Quote

Hoss Posted February 26, 2015 Author Report Posted February 26, 2015 Blue Jackets trade Adam Cracknell to St. Louis for "future considerations." DISCUSS IT NOW!!! Game changer. Quote
Brawndo Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) Jagr to the Panthers per SportsNet https://twitter.com/snhockeycentral/status/571060462651097089 Edited February 26, 2015 by BRAWNDO Quote
Hoss Posted February 26, 2015 Author Report Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) Jagr to the Panthers per SportnetPanthers make it official, too. Did NOT see them making this move.2015 2nd and a conditional 2016 3rd rounder (NJ gets to choose between Minnesota and Florida's third next year). Leafs re-acquire TJ Brennan from Chicago for Spencer Abbott. Could see Brennan coming back up to the NHL with Toronto. Edited February 26, 2015 by Tank Quote
Brawndo Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Jagr fetched a second this year and a conditional 3rd next, damn! Quote
Hoss Posted February 26, 2015 Author Report Posted February 26, 2015 Jagr has been in the league longer than the Panthers have. Also: he probably makes his debut vs the Sabres on Saturday. Probably not going to make it tonight. Quote
dudacek Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Nice move by the Panthers if making the playoffs is a key to the franchise plan. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Jagr fetched a second this year and a conditional 3rd next, damn! Don't think that bodes well for the return on Stewart. Quote
thewookie1 Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Don't think that bodes well for the return on Stewart. It tells me about a 2nd rounder, nothing else. Stewart + a 2nd may get us a 1st though Quote
darksabre Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Nathan Horton to the Leafs for David Clarkson. What's your game Columbus... Quote

tom webster Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 What in the world? Its strictly a money deal. Toronto can afford Horton on LTIR, Columbus can't. Quote
Hoss Posted February 26, 2015 Author Report Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) Its strictly a money deal. Toronto can afford Horton on LTIR, Columbus can't. But can Columbus afford Clarkson? Clarkson's cap hit is only $50,000 more a year but I see what you're saying. Probably need to ice a guy if they're paying him that much. Edited February 26, 2015 by Tank Quote
Byebye Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 I'm kind of surprised someone was willing to take in that contract. Good for Toronto opens up a lot of space for them. Actually yah, makes sense for both parties. A win win if you will Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Horton's salary wasn't against the cap since he was on LTIR, correct? Not sure this helps Columbus beyond this year, and that's IF Clarkson can help the team this year. Quote

Not sure this helps Columbus beyond this year, and that's IF Clarkson can help the team this year. That contract wasn't insurred so it didn't matter that it didn't count against the cap, it was still $22 million over the next four years they would have had to pay for someone not playing. They can't afford that, Toronto can and now Toronto gets $5 million in cap space they wouldn't have had for the next four years. Edited February 26, 2015 by tom webster Quote
Rasmus_ Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 It makes sense for Columbus because I assume they'd rather pay someone to play, and there's little chance that Horton comes back anytime soon. He could end up being a Pronger type situation. Sitting out multiple years while attempting to come back. Though this isn't a concussion case. Quote

Just don't see the benefit in having Clarkson if he doesn't pan out. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 With Horton's contract not being insured, Kekalainen says it all: "We would have been paying (Horton) $26 million the next five years to sit in the stands," Kekalainen said, according to the Columbus Post Dispatch's Aaron Portzline. Toronto can afford that, Columbus can't. Real salary-wise, Columbus saves about $400k/year over the same term by paying Clarkson to play instead of Horton to sit. The only problem is that Clarkson's production has fallen so precipitously with Toronto, that he could already be a washup. And because Toronto has "escaped" Clarkson's cap hit by taking on LTIR Horton, MacKenzie and Dreger are already calling this a win for Nonis. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 I can't believe Toronto lucked into a way out from under Clarkson's contract. Freakin unbelievable. Quote
Andrew Amerk Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 There were no other posts that weren't discussing the trades at hand. My post was a friendly reminder. Get a grip. I wasn't "thread policing." It was one friendly reminder that we usually try to keep most of that talk out of the deadline thread. There is another thread strictly dedicated to speculation. People always complain without responding to whoever did it when people start getting off topic, but as soon as somebody responds directly it's world war 17 (pretty sure this forum has crossed a couple world wars off the list). My post was completely harmless. No need to get all upset and start a powwow. So... "Can we trade Gorges for Sekera" is an actual trade meant for this thread, and not the speculation thread?? Sorry folks, Ligervich is right on this one. Quote
