Here is a picture out my front door early this morning during some serious lake snow. 20150215_015522.jpg Just north of Manchester. -5 right now. Quote
skaught Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Sunny and 71. But remember that we're due to fall off into the ocean any minute now. I'm in east county, only have to worry about the catching on fire part. Quote

Weave Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Last year we lost a bunch of perennials thanks to those two cold snaps. Cost us a good chunk of money to replace them. I have to assume we'll need to replace them again this Spring. :wallbash: On the positive side, we've got a beautiful ash tree in our front yard. These cold snaps kill Emerald Ash Borers. Quote
Cereal Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 It was a nice 75 here today in austin tx. Played golf this morning. After a weekend away in 75 and sunny Napa, CA, this is the thread I see at the top of the Aud Club? Yuck. I'm moving from Austin back to Rochester next week. It better warm up by then! Quote
Stoner Posted February 16, 2015 Author Report Posted February 16, 2015 -18.5 here, got down to -24 overnight. I know there are colder spots in the twin tiers where people will never take a thermometer. Ellicottville was -31 overnight. National low was -31 in Watertown, NY. Quote
MattPie Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) It was 0 on my phone this morning when I ran out to put the trash cans out (in a T-shirt). That's in Valley Township, but I'm a bit higher than that at my house, so maybe a degree or two cooler. My thermometer doesn't work well when it's this cold, despite having a Lithium AA battery in it. Edited February 16, 2015 by MattPie Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 - 14C ... -26C with the wind chill. That's ... 6F and -15F, for you folks on the old fashioned measuring stick. Quote
woods-racer Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 I don't recognize that name. To many *O*s and also a *D* in that name. No way he's a Sabre. I do know they have a Cy Hgsn on the roster. Some think he is Welsh, but I'm going with Norwegian. That's more like it.... Quote
Iron Crotch Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 I'd take extreme cold over an ice storm. Everything is closed in Nashville today. Roads look like skating rinks. Quote

How about extreme cold and a snow and ice storm? http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/halifax-urges-residents-to-stay-home-for-next-24-to-36-hours-1.2958486 Quote

Looks similar, but we don't have any snow. Some weird-assed weather going on... temperatures are well below freezing, but it is warmer up by the clouds (?)... hence freezing rain (?). Quote

It was -24 Deg F, not sure wind chill factor, this morning. And your telling me it was -6 deg F, 3000 frickin miles to the north of me, about 10 ft (3.3 meters on the new fashioned measuring stick) from the center of the North Pole in Halifax and your almost 20 degrees warmer...That's not right, just not right.
