respk Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 I'm not sure the Sabres are any better after this trade than they are before it. Myers , Stafford, Bogosian and Kane are a wash. Armia, Lemieux, and a 1st? 3 prospects that could have made a difference. I guess we'll see.
Stoner Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 A blow to prospect talk. I like it. Now have to work on analytics.
nucci Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 That's the benefit of having a home team. real fans have 1 team and only 1 team.
pastajoe Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Sabres practice cancelled. Press conference to come. WGR extending local coverage.
JJFIVEOH Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 half the team? a bit dramatic. Doesn't negate the fact that Murray gave up way too much. real fans have 1 team and only 1 team. I guess I'm not a real ran.
LGR4GM Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 So we get a head case and a defensive defenseman who can't stay healthy for that package? WOW. This... all of this... I can't even formulate words as to how much I hate this.
Stoner Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 So we get a head case and a defensive defenseman who can't stay healthy for that package? WOW. You roll the dice. Stafford, Armia, Myers and Lemieux weren't taking us anywhere anytime soon.
shrader Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 The lack of capgeek is bothering me right now. Bogosian is in year 2 of his 7 year contract, right?
SabresFanInRochester Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Kane's numbers are on par with some of the best players in the league. The guy scores, skates, drives to the net, and fights when he needs to. What's not to like on him? Off the ice attitude? wah. What numbers are you talking about??? He has had 30 goals once and outside of that, he has never had more than 20.
WildCard Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) So we get a head case and a defensive defenseman who can't stay healthy for that package? WOW. This... all of this... I can't even formulate words as to how much I hate this. Yep You roll the dice. Stafford, Armia, Myers and Lemieux weren't taking us anywhere anytime soon. We could have gotten more for less, easily Edited February 11, 2015 by WildCard
pastajoe Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 How does the affect Sabres Unpucked concert?
dudacek Posted February 11, 2015 Author Report Posted February 11, 2015 It was just a few days ago I posted Murray will trade guys that we wanted to keep in a package that we think is an overpayment to get guys he wants. This is who our GM is, people. Zero Given. get used to it.
thewookie1 Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 I grade this trade as of now as a C, way to many assets lost for too little.
sabills Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 The lack of capgeek is bothering me right now. Bogosian is in year 2 of his 7 year contract, right? Something like that. I know he has a NTC that kicks in in 2017 or something, which would be year 4, and that sounds about right.
shrader Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 It was just a few days ago I posted Murray will trade guys that we wanted to keep in a package that we think is an overpayment to get guys he wants. This is who our GM is, people. Zero ###### Given. get used to it. All while making the 2014-2015 Buffalo Sabres even worse. It's win-win for him.
SabresBillsFan Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Wow, I don't like this deal at all we gave up way too much. I'm not that big of an Evander Kane fan anyway. What's next Ennis and another first for what a puck bag. Edited February 11, 2015 by SabresBillsFan
bcsaberks Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 He'll love playing on a thinned-out, talentless team next year. I am already surprised. Now that Myers and Stafford are gone, Hodgson is the only whipping boy left. Who should we adopt to fill this new role? Kane no doubt. No me gusta.
Eleven Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 You roll the dice. Stafford, Armia, Myers and Lemieux weren't taking us anywhere anytime soon. Yep. Like I said above, it's a heavy price to pay, but the Sabres got a lot back.
Rasmus_ Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 From an NHL perspective, Kane and Bogosian clearly beats Stafford and Myers, the question is, did we give up too much potential to make that upgrade? I think we may have. That said, Kane Reinhart Ennis might be fun to watch. Biggest trade since Mogilny, maybe even since Turgeon/Lafontaine. The culture change from Regier is complete. GMTM just put his stamp on the team. Ennis is the only player of any significance left that you'll call Darcy's Great post. I definitely agree that this is the biggest deal since Mogilny.
Johnny DangerFace Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) A young top 4 D and a young top 6 winger. Both have a ton of potential left, both with high pedigrees. We gave up a ton, but got a ton back Edited February 11, 2015 by Johnny DangerFace
That Aud Smell Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) This makes a lot of sense: Travis Yost @TravisHeHateMe Buffalo's path is to put together a cycle where they have developing talent _ and developed talent. You can't have too much of one. Especially this. The franchise was too heavy with prospects and picks. Might still be. Edited February 11, 2015 by That Aud Smell
Stoner Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 This... all of this... I can't even formulate words as to how much I hate this. Erg. Wouldn't you rather have real NHL players to talk about next season than more kiddie talk?
SabresFanInRochester Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) I just checked the calendar to see if it is April 1st -- I feel we got fleeced in this deal. Edited February 11, 2015 by SabresFanInRochester
SDS Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Although I don't know enough about all the pieces, I'll throw my hat into the "hate to see Lemieux go" camp.
wnyguy Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 I'm not sure the Sabres are any better after this trade than they are before it. Myers , Stafford, Bogosian and Kane are a wash. Armia, Lemieux, and a 1st? 3 prospects that could have made a difference. I guess we'll see. A wash? Kane is a legit first line player. Bogosian may be a step beneath Myers and the rest are prospects only.
