Swedesessed Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 Jul 3, 2014 - Coyotes name Darcy Regier Senior VP, Assistant GM. Now, Don Maloney announces the team will be selling. Looks like Regier is making his impact felt in Arizona. I hope Darcy does not come back to bite the Sabres in the lottery Quote
Brawndo Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 if it does the Hockey Gods really hate the Buffalo Fan Base. It makes more sense for they to win the lottery next year when Auston Matthews is available Quote
Hoss Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 This has been discussed extensively from the second Regier was hired there. Quote
shrader Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 Do people even realize what an assistant GM does? How is a glorified scout going to orchestrate the downfall of an entire organization, especially in less than one year? This whole idea really needs to go away. Quote

pastajoe Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 If it gets close, Darcy will try to convince his GM to sign Leino for the rest of the season. Quote

French Collection Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 He'll help them get the most out of the UFAs they sell off. We may have a hard time passing anybody for 29th, Oilers will be our main competition and I think they have more horsepower. I agree that the fix may be in for Matthews next year. Does Bettman like playing with all of those balls? Quote
Jsixspd Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Because Darth Sidious Regier has ways don't you know. Because he's a weaselly weasel? :) Quote
Taro T Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Because he's a weaselly weasel? :)Always thought he was more of a weasely ferret. ;) Quote
dudacek Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Has anyone seen or read any quotes from Darcy since he got run over by his own tank? Don't think he's ever commented on his firing - or anything at all since that day. Quote

Jsixspd Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 So we're assuming Arizona hired him for his Tanking Expertise? Or his weaselly nature? Or Both? LOL Quote

LOL Maybe the weasel is digging a series of tunnels below the Sabres tank as an act of sabotage. He's like a modern day Caddyshack gopher. Cue up the Kenny Loggins. Quote
LGR4GM Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Darth Darcy is not a concern. We have Murray, he's like Anakin Skywalker without the respirator. He will bring balance to the force. Edited February 6, 2015 by LGR4GM Quote

Don't think he's ever commented on his firing - or anything at all since that day. Wait, what? Darcy got fired because he wanted to tank, and Terry didn't? Or he was tanking too much? Not enough? I guess I never really believed the tank was Darcy's idea, or that he was fired. I think the tank was too much for Darcy to stomach. Same for Lindy. And Millsie, Pommsie, Vansie and Ottsie. Quote

Claude_Verret Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Everyone in the FO was on board with the tank / suffering. Darcy was fired because the concept of tanking on paper and the reality of witnessing the suckitude night after night are two totally different animals. Quote

Has anyone checked GM Anakin Murray's midi-chlorian count? I hope it is insanely high! In the season immediately before Regier was hired, the Coyotes had a .543 winning %. Now, in the current season after Regier came aboard, they've dropped to .433. Just a coincidence I'm sure. Quote

Kr632 Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 You forgot Roysie and Goosesie. what is with hockey players and the ie at the end of every name? Myers was on wgr and they called him mysie. What are they 6 years old? Quote
Stoner Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) You don't think that the guy who openly stated that the fans were going to have to deal with some suffering wasn't on board with tanking? He also said near the end of the 2012-13 season, just before the suffering presser, that Terry would determine the extent of the rebuild. If Terry determined that over the summer, maybe it was more than Darcy expected when he said the following at the presser: “You could go to the bottom of the League for five years and hope you land on a Crosby or a Malkin, or the franchise can find something “in between” tanking and rebuilding on the fly. It may require some suffering” Darcy also talked about how the Kings rebuilt, by drafting high and then trading those players for established players. I'm still not sure why Darcy was fired. What did he do wrong? Or right? Edited February 6, 2015 by Yuri Testikov Quote
skaught Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Why does Tim Murray still have a job then? Because he hasn't been the GM for 15 years yet. Quote
