Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 Making the playoffs and lucking out as a 40-1 shot is one thing.... Lindy and your boy Seguin are 100-1. There's a reason why Boston let him roll. I'm not saying this can't be a really good team in 3-4 years......I'm saying Tim Murray needs to be one of the best GM's in the league for that to happen. So far, he's been Grumpy Cat Darcy....... I do have faith in him being good however. It's just such a shame and a waste watching poor young souls give themselves to the devil. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Seeing that fills you with hope? k Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gallagher Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Parenteau That isn't exactly hockey Viagra...yet it's 4th in the conference. Most rosters have a couple of players truly lugging the mail and everyone else just settling in around them...that's what I see with that Sabres lineup. Again, I readily acknowledge if Reinhart and/or our pick this year bust, then it looks much worse. Good post; you should be the go-to guy for media when they run into problems justifying the tank. If I were asked to point out any flaws in your argument, there are some variables in your reasoning that are more predictions than solid projections: Moulson's projected production, Samson and McEichel's sophomore production. Perhaps you're correct in qualifying your reasoning by pointing out that Sabres fans aren't used to the kind of upper-tier prospects the latter two are, but I think I need more evidence that your predictions for these two are on solid footing. Generally, I find your working of the numbers and conclusions based on thus are respectable, without more data, I don't know if I can buy into your predictions here at this point. Would love to, though, you understand. As for Moulson, I can buy into the implied argument that he's an accessory player rather than a leader, but I'm not sold on his production based on what I've seen from him so far. He is a nice guy, though. For the Reinhart and McEichel projections I was just pulling numbers from my memory of the offensive jump high picks make from year 1 to year 2. In the next little bit I think I'll look at the actual numbers that top forward picks produce and go off those. Yes yes yes, Reinhart and whoever are their own players, but I'm not a scout and don't watch nearly enough (see: basically none) junior hockey to do anything other than project based off of what other players in those slots have done. The possibility of drafting a bust, of course, is always there and obliterates my hope if it happens. Making the playoffs and lucking out as a 40-1 shot is one thing.... Funny you mention Boston, who is scratching and clawing to hold off Florida for 8th place, in large part because they can't score, as some success story in jettisoning a high end forward ;) Quote
Marvelo Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) Fans on sports radio have been talking about dealing Lucic here in Boston. He's definitely not earning his 3 yr $18mil extension with 9g/15a/69pim. It would be a match made in heaven….Lucic and Buffalo. Pegula loves to overpay for non-performing has-beens and Lucic is coasting along on reputation only. And coasting is just Buffalo's speed…it would be like the second coming of Dave Schultz, who came to Buffalo all worn out. Edited January 21, 2015 by 716 Quote

It was he couldn't take 2 strides onto the ice w/out getting called for a reputation penalty. (For the youngins reading: Picture about 2 orders of magnitude less benefit of the doubt than Kaleta gets.) Edited January 21, 2015 by Taro T Quote
