Hoss Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 A lot of good players still there. On Gregory - I've soured on him throughout the day. Rapoport reported that he was 90 minutes late to his Saints workout. Completely missed a workout with the Raiders. That's ridiculous. Jake Fisher (OT - Oregon), TJ Clemmings (OT - Pitt) and AJ Cann (OG - South Carolina) all still there. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Do the Bills take Randy Gregory if he falls two more picks? Huge risk, potentially huge reward. I'd get on board with it, but I still think I'd prefer something at offensive line. Quote
Brawndo Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 At the draft they have UB's bull logo up instead of the Bills logo...NYBI New York Bills Initative Quote
WildCard Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Took no time in making that pick, let's see what it is.... Jim Kelly :worthy: :worthy: Great ovation from the crowd, wow Darby out of FSU Quote
Hoss Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Yuck Not a fan of this pick at all. If that's BPA then I'm confused because he shouldn't be this high on their boards. They've got Gilmore, Leodis, Graham and just took Cockrell last year... Edited May 2, 2015 by Hoss Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 I would've preferred offensive line given the guys available there, but I think corner was an underrated area of need, especially with the blitzes Ryan is going to bring. I'm okay with it. Don't love it, but I think it's a reasonable choice. Quote
WildCard Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Gonna push one of our CB's to safety I'd assume Quote
Eleven Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 This freaking guy? A DB? Who was the worst OL available? Should have been him. Quote
Hoss Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Aaron Williams was a big yuck No he wasn't. I was ecstatic when we made that pick. Disappointed when it was announced that he'd be playing corner. Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Not a fan of this pick at all. If that's BPA then I'm confused because he shouldn't be this high on their boards. Where does that come from? Quote
Hoss Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Whaley says Darby was the highest-rated player left on the board. Team was close to moving down but couldn't get a deal done. Edited May 2, 2015 by Hoss Quote
WildCard Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 @BuckyBrooks: Several scouts that I trust believed @buffalobills new CB Ron Darby is the "real deal". World-class athlete. Crazy upside at CB2 or NDB Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Gonna push one of our CB's to safety I'd assume Graham could move if they're not as high on Duke Williams as they have said publicly. More likely I think this is a depth move this season, with a longer term plan to replace McKelvin. Quote
tom webster Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Whaley says Darby was the highest-rated player left on the board. Team was close to moving down but couldn't get a deal done. And Bucky Brooks, whom I respect immensely said scouts he trusts call him the real deal so I guess someone had him higher then you. Quote
Hoss Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 The Jim Kelly moment was something special, though. And Bucky Brooks, whom I respect immensely said scouts he trusts call him the real deal so I guess someone had him higher then you. Definitely. Doesn't mean I have to agree. Jon Scott @JonTWCNews Darby says he was a #Redskins fan growing up. Doesn't know a lot about the #Bills. Familiar with Watkins because of ACC Quote
Eleven Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Graham could move if they're not as high on Duke Williams as they have said publicly. More likely I think this is a depth move this season, with a longer term plan to replace McKelvin. Depth move with a second round non-QB pick. I want to hit people. Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) @viccarucci: Whaley said gap between Darby and other players on the board was big enough that there wasn't a debate. So the bills were suppose to ignore the scouts and draft for need even though there was a higher rated player available? Edited May 2, 2015 by Vlad Dangerslakov Quote
Hoss Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 @viccarucci: Whaley said gap between Darby and other players on the board was big enough that there wasn't a debate. Probably safe to assume they had him in the late twenties early thirties then... And that Gregory isn't on their boards. Quote
WildCard Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 @mikerodak: Doug Whaley cites the AFC Easts additions in this draft as a reason for adding Darby. MIA added Parker; NYJ added Smith @viccarucci: Whaley on Darby: Physical, press guy makes him a good fit in defense. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Depth move with a second round non-QB pick. I want to hit people. I personally like the fact they're seeing the larger picture. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Darby is a good corner. I've seen him play in person a few times. It seems clear we're trying to add speed based on this pick and the off-season moves. Darby can fly. Quote
WildCard Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 @ChrisTrapasso: For #Bills: Darby can play CB or S. Plus ball skills / athleticism / speed. BUF did have hole at S next to Aaron Williams. Duke not proven @NickVeronica: Ronald Darby ran the 40 meters in 4.38 seconds, second fastest among corners in the draft. For comparison, C.J. Spiller ran 4.37 #Bills @hsimon62: whaley said they did get calls to move down but they decided to stay at 50 and make the pick @hsimon62: #Bills GM Doug Whaley on Darby: very physical at line of scrimmage. has speed to get downfield with receivers. Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Yea let's not forget our strength is our defense, and you need cornerbacks in this league. Mckelvin hasnt played a full season since 2011 and stephon gilmore has missed games the last two seasons. You need "depth" at cornerback because your "depth" plays a ton. And if that was the highest rated player, then good pick Quote
