dEnnis the Menace Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Saying it was the right time to move on, is one thing. Saying you're not a big fan is quite another. I don't think there's another professional Buffalo athlete whom I've enjoyed rooting for more than Fred. I have not been to the stadium in years, but I will buy a ticket when his name goes on the wall of fame. Amen to those Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Yes he's been someone fun to root for and I get why a lot of fans love him. But I also think he's overrated. He was a good classy RB. But he has gotten old and lost a step, I was hoping for him to get cut Quote
Eleven Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 I was a Freddy fan, but he has clearly lost a big step over the last year. That's all He's been unexpectedly very solid his career. But he was never great or a gamechanger. Didja see the first play from scrimmage on Saturday night? This is a mistake. I think he'll be with the Patriots before the end of the day tomorrow. Quote
inkman Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Didn't see that coming. Wonder who's going to sign him. Is there any doubt it will be NE? Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 As Freddy fans, you all would have been happier with him getting a few touches as a 3rd stringer? Anyone following Karlos Williams should agree he deserves some carries. Kid can be a star Quote
Doohicksie Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Is there any doubt it will be NE? Worst possible scenario. He'll come back to haunt the Bills. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 I also think he's overrated. ... I was hoping for him to get cut JFC. Didja see the first play from scrimmage on Saturday night? This is a mistake. I think he'll be with the Patriots before the end of the day tomorrow. Is there any doubt it will be NE? The Browns also make sense (as mentioned), but this seems to have the Patriots written all over it. With the Bills not in contention, it would be sorta fun to cheer for Fred to win one. Quote
darksabre Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Does Fred deserve his own thread here? Best Bills player during a dark era. For sure. The guy was so loyal to our garbage team. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 So I am not, in any shape or form, a "lock room culture guy".....but I think it's worth noting we've brought in a lot of guys with checkered character concerns (both in the draft and free agency) and now we're dumping a guy with huge respect in the room. One of the Ryan articles discussed how over time with the Jets he would let go of quality vets and go with character question marks. That article attributed the Jets decline to this (something I certainly disagree with) but it seems that it wasn't a post-firing smear job on the approach. Quote
darksabre Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Is there any doubt it will be NE? This is exactly what will happen. Quote

Anyone following Karlos Williams should agree he deserves some carries. Kid can be a star Williams has looked good, but he was a 5th round pick and he hasn't played a single real snap yet and he's been hurt for weeks. I don't know how anyone can be so confident he's good. Quote

Anyone following Karlos Williams should agree he deserves some carries. Kid can be a star I would've preferred they keep Fred around and deploy him as needed. McCoy will miss games this year. Brown is a fumbling machine. Williams may be as good as you say, but they could have put Fred to good use this year. And, like I said, it's okay in my book to say "this is a good football decision." But the "meh, not a big fan, overrated, next" is just an off the rez sort of thing to say. So I am not, in any shape or form, a "lock room culture guy".....but I think it's worth noting we've brought in a lot of guys with checkered character concerns (both in the draft and free agency) and now we're dumping a guy with huge respect in the room. Hoss Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Don't worry guys, we still have a kick off specialist. Quote

Eleven Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Is there any doubt it will be NE? 90% NE, 10% Dallas. Don't worry guys, we still have a kick off specialist. Right? Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Jackson is 34 years old with a YPC of 3.7 last year for christ's sake.....people taking this personal shows how overrated he was. I get that losing a fan favorite hurts, but it was clearly time. But I'll stop being the party pooper here. I'm glad Karlos Williams will get his shot. And I think he'll be good just from watching him and following him, I'm a huge fan. Edited August 31, 2015 by Johnny DangerFace Quote
Doohicksie Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 For sure. The guy was so loyal to our garbage team. Granted, he wasn't drafted by anyone. If the GM at the time wasn't an alum of Jackson's school, does he even get a professional career? Quote
Eleven Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Does Fred deserve his own thread here? Best Bills player during a dark era. Except Moorman. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Don't worry guys, we still have a kick off specialist. That made me break something. Yes, it was just a pencil. But still. Even so: His big carry on Saturday notwithstanding, he would not have served the role of a big-play guy. But he gets what's blocked, can do everything well (esp. on third down), has insane vision, and maybe could help keep a locker room full of wing nuts on a good path. Hoss Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 I'm dying. I'm dead. RIP Sabills. We'll never forget you. I just don't get this. Did they not watch his highlights enough? Rex, if you're reading this please watch the highlight video below and reconsider. Quote
Eleven Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Believe it or not, Andrew Peters is explaining this move on the radio and he is changing my view. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Don't worry guys, we still have a kick off specialist. I didn't even think of this. I hate you. Jackson is 34 years old with a YPC of 3.7 last year for christ's sake.....people taking this personal shows how overrated he was. I get that losing a fan favorite hurts, but it was clearly time. But I'll stop being the party pooper here. I'm glad Karlos Williams will get his shot. And I think he'll be good just from watching him and following him, I'm a huge fan. RBs need, at the very least, a decent OL to put up numbers...our line was among the worst in football last year. McCoy's YPC dropped from 5.1 to 4.2 last year when the only meaningful change on that Philly team was the OL got decimated by injury. Although maybe you think McCoy should be cut too because he's lost a step. Quote
Hoss Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 Now that it seems to have calmed down: this move sucks. But it's not like "wtf so Buffalo ugh" terrible. They've got options at RB. My hope is that they plan to be active on the waiver wire as other cuts come in and needed to free up some space. But Freddy was still capable and only had one year left. They could've avoided any potential black eyes with the fans and in future negotiations if they just rode out the year and let him walk/run/retire. I'll miss Freddy. I hope he gets a chance to play elsewhere. Quote
