qwksndmonster Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 I just watched that. Some interesting stuff,… some way out there cuckoobird stuff too, but still pretty good.I wish it was more analysis and less ilovemovies! fluff, but it was definitely worth a look. Quote
ubkev Posted October 21, 2015 Report Posted October 21, 2015 I just found out that science classes at my son's school still teach the tongue map. You know, that thing that was debunked as a myth years ago. Great. Quote

ubkev Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Public school? Yeah, I'm not rich enough to send him to private school. Of course, I went to private school* and I don't remember it being all that great. *7-10,got sick of it and begged mom and dad to let me go back to public school. Quote

BagBoy Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) I never took a physics class in my life, but I love watching those physics shows. I just watched an Einstein show I'd seen before, but I had a new thought this time. In a nutshell, his Theory of Relativity gets into gravity/warping of space-time, etc. The only way to prove Einstein's theory back then was to observe where the stars "near" the sun appeared to be during a total eclipse of the sun. The other part of my thought is that astronomers say we have really cool eclipses here on earth, because between the size and distance of our moon (from earth), it's kind of a perfect fit for our sun. This allows for the sun's corona during total eclipses, and allows us to photo the stars near the sun during a total eclipse. If the moon was smaller, the corona would be too prevalent/wide to be able to see stars on the edge of the sun. If the moon was bigger, maybe you could get around the whole blotting out the sun thing (I'm way out of my league here), but it seems to me it would be much more complicated to validate Einstein/Relativity if the moon was bigger. So what if we didn't have this perfect Goldilocks sun/moon set-up? Where would we be now? No man-made satellites? That alone is pretty heavy. and if anyone mentions intelligent design I will track you down and poop in your yard Edited November 3, 2015 by BagBoy Quote

LGR4GM Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 The Science community at large is behind the times but finally we are starting to understand electrostatic confinement fusion. Interestingly the ITER experiment which is the cause for the excitement is actually not at the cusp of sustainable fusion. For that you would need a polywell or similar type machine that is striving to create net energy from a fusion reaction. http://www.scienceworldreport.com/articles/32895/20151112/new-plasma-confinement-state-secret-fusion-energy.htm To read more about the polywell and the history of fusion there is this really great blog with it thoroughly explained. http://www.thepolywellblog.com/ Quote

GoPre Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Any of you ever get this message on a roku when attempting to watch a channel you're subscribed to? "HDCP unauthorized. Content disabled." Got it on my roku 3 when trying to watch Netflix, Gamecenter, etc.... This occurred out of the blue. Have been using a roku 3 for a while. The problem was corrected by unplugging the tv and roku, and flipping the HDMI hookup around. Edited November 18, 2015 by Thanes16 Quote

Posted November 19, 2015 Report Posted November 19, 2015 The Kenyan catholic doctors association recently had six Tetanus vaccinations from around Kenya tested and they all tested positive for the HCB antigen which is an anti fertility antigen. This appears to be proven false by Snopes http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/tetanus.asp . The link also shows that this rumor was also making the rounds 20 or so years ago, but pertaining to other countries. Quote

I can't help but wonder with all the ' rumours ' coming from various countries that there might be something to this. If true you'd think the groups doing it would continue to pooh pooh it. It certainly almost made me chock on my oatmeal this a.m. Quote
