ubkev Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 I liked Force Awakens a lot. The feel of it was right for the "main story" films. I think these side films are going to have a slightly different feel. I'm really excited for that. Different composer scoring them too. My wife really liked force Awakens. She has never allowed me to show her a single star wars movie, and she basically tagged along with my son and I so she would have something to do. She came out of the theater, pretty impressed with it. My son, who was 11 at the time, liked it but he did mention that he thought it wasn't as good as the originals(thats my boy!) I thought it was OK. It was fun, to be sure. I was not a fan of the temper tantrum throwing, Darth Emo. But I do understand that there is a ton of room for them to build off of it. This one feels like it's gonna be cool. Quote
carpandean Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 I've watched The Force Awakens a few times recently (background while working out) and it's grown on me a bit. However, I watched A New Hope today and I definitely still prefer the original trilogy (well, at least IV and V.) Think I'll watch Empire next. I am definitely looking forward to both Rogue One and Episode VIII. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Cautious optimism. Remember, The Phantom Menace trailer looked pretty good, too. But I believe this one will have both a plot and character arcs. Put those two things in the Star Wars galaxy and I'm good to go. Meaning... yeah, I'll probably watch it a few times. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 I'm really excited to see Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelson in Rogue One. But I'm wayyy more excited to see the Rian Johnson directed Star Wars 8 Quote
LGR4GM Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Trailers these days are like online dating profiles, they show you want you want to see but hide the crazy under layers of cat pictures. Quote
Brawndo Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 Kenny Baker, the actor who played R2 D2 has passed away Quote
GoPre Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 God bless the internet Was this fan made? Well done. Quote
drnkirishone Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 that should have been the official trailer Quote
qwksndmonster Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 No way Star Wars could've used Sabotage in a trailer. Star Trek 1 and 3 both used it in their trailer and it was a significant plot point in the third one. I'm not kidding, they use Beastie Boys to fight aliens. Quote

DarthEbriate Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 The claxon-synch is particularly lovely. Also, for the kids and AFOLs, Lego released images of the spring 2017 wave. A Thrawn, a Y-wing. Here's hoping the Y-wing finally gets to shine and land a hit on a bombing run. Quote
darksabre Posted December 15, 2016 Report Posted December 15, 2016 Seeing Rogue One tonight! I think we're going to try to see it this weekend. I'm excited. Quote
biodork Posted December 15, 2016 Report Posted December 15, 2016 Gah, I have to wait until sometime next week since my movie buddy is busy tonight and tomorrow and I've got plans this weekend. Soon, very soon, though! Quote
Brawndo Posted December 15, 2016 Report Posted December 15, 2016 Seeing Rogue One tonight! Going to the 7 PM Show myself Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 Rogue One. Eh. It just seems like it's A New Hope with different actors. Quote
ubkev Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 I expect many Bothans will die. I think I'm going to see it Tuesday. Quote
GoPre Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 One of the better Star Wars movies in my opinion. Had a darker tone, much like Empire Strikes Back, and was relatively straight to the point. Almost a complete opposite of Episodes 1, 2 an 6. I'll give it a 9 out of 10. Worth watching a second time in the theatre. Quote
bunomatic Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 A friend says it is a stand alone that will not have a sequal. And that it falls between the 3rd and 4th in the movie sequence. Is that the proper take on this ? It all gets a wee bit confusing as I don't eat and breath this stuff. Nevertheless I'm exited to see it. Saw the last one Imax 3d and it was good. Quote
North Buffalo Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 Look forward to seeing it with my kids over xmas break! Quote

TrueBlueGED Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 Is it safe to assume we're temporarily back to spoiler-free for awhile with the new movie? Or should I stop impulsively clicking this thread? Quote
