qwksndmonster Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) See I disagree on the bold. this is taking place 30 yrs after the original trilogy. So a young woman asking if what happened was all legend or true, and him explaining they're all true, isn't too unbelievable. It's like me asking my grandfather if all the stories his army buddy's tell me are true, to which he'll reply "of course..." I figured that's what the line was. I still think it's clumsily written trailer fodder. How does he know that ALL the stories she heard are true? Wouldn't a universe this big have a lot of false information and stories being spread? I get that she's a historian or whatever going onto old crashed ships looking for stuff, but it sounds so much like Han is talking directly to us. "All those stories are true." "So you really had a threesome with Luke and Leia? Damn. Greasy." Edited December 17, 2015 by qwksndmonster Quote

qwksndmonster Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 And it's not that line so much as "nostalgia" is the general emotion the trailers try to elicit. Which is fine, but can't at least one or two of the trailers act like the exciting awesome stuff is yet to come? Quote

That and they can cut together certain scenes to make the trailer say whatever they want it to. Quote
SwampD Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 I mean, tbf we all wear jerseys and amass 41 times a year with 18k other people just like us to yell at people on the ice. I've never really thought there was much difference in those to groups of people. Quote

That and they can cut together certain scenes to make the trailer say whatever they want it to. And that's beyond great. Makes people wonder what will go down. As I mentioned earlier, there's been plenty of talk amongst the general fan base of whether or not Luke has turned to the dark side. But, at least from what I've read, there's been little discussion of the what ifs. As in will an original character go down in this movie? Hope it's not Han. That's just my thought. Haven't heard anything about what may or may not happen. Quote

GoPre Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Sitting, gave up on standing, in line for the premier I bought tickets for. Have 73 minutes to go. Place is packed! Kind of disappointed w/ the number of people dressed up. Very few chose to do so. Quote
WildCard Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Thought it was forbidden to dress up? Quote
GoPre Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Thought it was forbidden to dress up?[/quote Not completely. Can wear whatever you want, but you're not allowed to wear a mask, makeup or bring a blaster. Now, a few have arrived holding their helmets or mask. They then asked if they could have a picture taken. That has been allowed all night. They are told they cannot wear the mask after the pic. A guy dressed up was escorted out of the theatre. Don't know why. Maybe because he wouldn't follow the dress code or was he dumb enough to record or take pics of the movie? He looked like he was in deep shitt. A police officer was involved. The second Abrams Star Trek was a great ride and added to the much needed adrenaline injection that franchise needed. The Star Trek franchise (mainly the spin offs) were pseudo intellectual dreck. Have you seen the trailers you're panning? You know this Star Wars story HAS to occur in the Star Wars universe, using the Star Wars narrative, right? There have to be TIE fighters, there have to be X wings, and there has to be the Force. Of course there have to be Jedi. Without the Star Wars icons and canon, it's just another space war movie. I want the opposite direction Lucas took the franchise after episode 6. Just like I wanted the opposite direction for the Star Trek franchise instead of the way it went after Wrath of Khan. Abrams is perfect for that. Mmm autocorrect. Edited December 18, 2015 by SiZzlEmeIsTEr Quote

TM8-PL16 Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 saw it yesterday at 7:00pm (normal screen) and going again today IMAX 3D. It was a lot of fun! I could nit pick it apart but overall it was really fun. It felt way more "Star Wars" than the prequels which was good. Nothing will ever compare to the feeling we all had as little kids watching the original trilogy and opening our toys or SW themed gifts, but this is pretty awesome. I'm really looking forward to watching this again today without 'being in my head' the whole time analyzing everything. Go check it out and just take it for what it is... FUN!!!!! Quote

Rasmus_ Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Are we posting spoilers or not? Quote
darksabre Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Start a temporary spoilers thread. Then we can merge them after a few weeks. Quote
Rasmus_ Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 NO SPOILERS, PLEASE. No problem. Haha. Quote
GoPre Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Han and chewy die? Maybe, maybe not ;) Wtf They were kidding around. No hint of anything was given. I'm quite sure the board will respect everyone that has yet to see it and not provide any spoilers. Seeing it last night was awesome! In my opinion, it is the movie most fans have been waiting for since the original trilogy. Quote
