WildCard Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) The Sabres head into St.Louis for a late night match up against a Blues team that seems to have rediscovered their talent. Taresenko of the Blues has been on a tear, and St.Louis has recently gotten back a few of their star players from injury in Statsny and Backes. The Sabres meanwhile are coming off a 6-1 schelacking at the hands of Crosby and the Penguins. Zemgus Girgensons will get his first look at playing center for a solid line combination tonight as he centers Moulson - Girgs - Ennis, and Buffalo fans finally get to see just how great a 4th line player Drew Stafford can be. X. Benedict Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 The Drew Stafford at Center era begins! I'm happily married but I'm asking the Executive Assistant on the third floor today if we can swap pairs of dirty underwear .......#becausedrewstaffordatcenter Quote
Hoss Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 With Ferguson and other area police loading up on tanks in preparation for riots, what's one more coming into town? Quote
SwampD Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Poor Drew. If it turns out he can actually play center, then people will be mad at him for screwing up the tank. Quote

SwampD Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I like that you're even considering that he might be a good center. I don't know if he'll be good, but there is no way he'll be worse than Ennis,… please dear Jebus let that be true. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Poor Drew. If it turns out he can actually play center, then people will be mad at him for screwing up the tank. Scoring a good a head goal against Edmonton was tank screwing territory already! He's lucky that didn't hurt us Quote
pastajoe Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I'm interested in seeing how Ott and Stewart play in this game. Quote

Claude Balls Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Anyone know if Kaleta will be playing? Quote
Iron Crotch Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Anyone know if Kaleta will be playing? He is fully cleared to play. My guess is he is in at 4th line RW and Hodgson goes to the press box. Oh, and Mitchell - Flynn - Gionta is a terrible line. Just terrible. Quote
inkman Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 :bag: Thought maybe it was a Lou Holtz Impersonation Quote
Eleven Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 He is fully cleared to play. My guess is he is in at 4th line RW and Hodgson goes to the press box. Oh, and Mitchell - Flynn - Gionta is a terrible line. Just terrible. Why? Because it gives them the chance to individually show off their unique, ummm, talents, while failing to coalesce in any meaningful way? Quote
inkman Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Why? Because it gives them the chance to individually show off their unique, ummm, talents, while failing to coalesce in any meaningful way? I'm calling it the 'never was, never will be, used to be' line. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Why? Because it gives them the chance to individually show off their unique, ummm, talents, while failing to coalesce in any meaningful way? I've never been a fan of Mitchell going back to his pre-Sabres days. He can skate for sure... but he is just another smallish non-physical 3rd/4th line guy who can't score. Flynn is basically the same as Mitchell. And, obviously Gionta's best days are behind him. Given our offensive ineptitude, putting out an entire line of smallish veteran forwards who can't score leaves me less than excited. My general school of thought is if we're going to play forwards who can't put the puck in the net, I at least want them to be physical players (e.g., Deslauriers, Kaleta, Stewart, Foligno when he is motivated, etc.) or kids who are learning the NHL game. ...watch Mitchell - Flynn - Gionta light it up tonight now! MattPie Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Surely NBCSN, not NBC. Can I get an edit so I stop seeing the thread title and thinking I'll be able to watch this game? Quote
Hoss Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 @BNHarrington: Ott said #Sabres never called him during FA period and STL was best option when Buffalo signed Gionta. Quote
Eleven Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 @BNHarrington: Ott said #Sabres never called him during FA period and STL was best option when Buffalo signed Gionta. That's ok. He wouldn't have helped this team. Quote

WildCard Posted November 11, 2014 Author Report Posted November 11, 2014 He couldn't have hurt it. Not sure why Murray wouldn't at least talk to him. Sounds like tank manipulation and he got what he wanted in Gionta Quote
