Claude Balls Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Brett Hull anyone? I thought they changed that rule anyhow. Pennis!!! Quote
Iron Crotch Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 I think he's my new favorite player! No goal.com 2 assists and a +1 tonight for Strachan. While everyone jizzes over Myers and Gorges, they forget that we can't score as a team and our two "ice eating d-men" have a combined 1 point between them. At some point we need to generate offense from the back-end. That's my grand complaint about Myers. Defensively our top pair is very good. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 The youngsters played a big role in this win. That is good to see. Quote
Claude Balls Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 I think Zemgus is gonna be one of the best players the Sabres have drafted in a long time. He is smooth and edgy. Felt good for Neuvirth tonight. Quote
X. Benedict Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Zemgus "The Lion" Girgensons That was an amazing shot. Quote
LabattBlue Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Are all the primadonna's going to come out and speak to the media tonight, or are they going to play a game of duck and run again? Quote
rickshaw Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Nice win. Myers played great, saved the game with seconds left in OT. Love how much he's improved his physical play. Neuvurth (sp) looked great too. Hodgson was huge. LOL, joke! Nice win. Quote

First you need offense from your actual "offense", then worry about getting it from your D. Also winning offensive zone faceoffs is a huge part of not being able to generate chances. Quote
LGR4GM Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) That was an amazing shot. I am actually not sure there was another player on the Sabres who could have made that shot. Now in Rochester and the OHL there are a couple. Edited November 3, 2014 by LGR4GM Quote
Claude Balls Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 I can think of about four players I would trade from this team. Myers, Hodgson, Mezzaros and Gionta. What has Gionta brought to this team as a captain? Quote

Also winning offensive zone faceoffs is a huge part of not being able to generate chances. I can't disagree more. In today's NHL, you need points from your defensemen. Put another way, if a guy is playing 25 minutes a game and is playing on the first power play unit, how can he have only 1 point through 13 games? That's not a true #1 defenseman in my book. You need to generate some offense from the backend. We got that today with 2 assists from Strachan and actually won a game. Quote
biodork Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Wow. Only got to half-watch this while working, but that was pretty unexpected. Hoping Zadorov sticks around (AND plays) longer. Quote
Eleven Posted November 3, 2014 Author Report Posted November 3, 2014 Holy ######, they won! I only got to see the third and the OT/SO. I'm not sure I heard Zadarov's name called that whole time. Was he hurt earlier? Deslauriers impressed me. He usually does. This guy is an ideal third liner. Neuvirth: solid. I know, Flynn scored a goal. He's still not an NHLer. Question: Who the hell is Tyson Strachan and why did he equal last year's production in one game? Is he legit or is he some JAG we're going to suffer with? And finally, with all apologies to Mr. Gionta, this team belongs to ZG. I want a real, old-fashioned team election for captain, and tell me that guy doesn't win. ALL OVER the place, at least in the third, and I think we know that he won the game. Quote
Claude Balls Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Love Chris Stewart. Said about the fight with Lucic that once he switched to the left, it was on, a couple big boys going at it. He does have a wicked lazy right eye though. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Thought Strachan looked meh. Gives you what Weber gives you, but not as nasty. Glad Nolan knows now to put Gus out there in the SO. Quote
Hoss Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Last season the Sabres finished October with five points. Got blown out (6-3) in their first game of November... And then won their second November game in a shootout. Two of the first three wins in the shootout for two straight seasons. Quote
