qwksndmonster Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 Against the Red Wings no less. About time I suppose, but against the Red Wings? Those bastards didn't need ANOTHER cup. Quote
Taro T Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 Darn. Looks like a weeknight trek to Buffalo is in order. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) Way to be. Probably the most dominant player at their position in franchise history. Edited October 20, 2014 by IKnowPhysics Quote

Andrew Amerk Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 The only game that I puchased tickets to! What luck! Quote
Aud Fellow Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 This will be a special game to be at...can't wait to see #39 up in the rafters. Quote
LastPommerFan Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Got my tickets. Going with my Brother and Parents. Very excited to see this happen. He did play one season with the cross swords, should it be red/black, or Blue/Gold? Bread and circuses. This is going to be a fantastic sports moment. I'm sad for you. Quote
SwampD Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 This is going to be a fantastic sports moment. I agree. I'm still not wrong, though. Quote
Stoner Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Bread and circuses. It's right out of the Larry Quinn Handbook 1995-1996. Legends of the Aud. The team sucked under Ted Nolan then too. By the way, you must be my brother from another mother. Got my tickets. Going with my Brother and Parents. Very excited to see this happen. He did play one season with the cross swords, should it be red/black, or Blue/Gold? Now you can be sad for me. It should be Red Wing red. Dom said as much when he was traded there. Quote
LastPommerFan Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 I agree. I'm still not wrong, though. Especially when you throw in the Pizza Logs. :) It's also just about perfect that on the night Dom's Jersey is raised, Nolan will be behind the bench, and a team that can't score to save their lives will be on the ice. Just like old times. Now you can be sad for me. It should be Red Wing red. Dom said as much when he was traded there. PA, It's not your fault. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 I agree. I'm still not wrong, though. You are wrong. Bread and circuses is something done to distract the masses from problems. Hasek's number would be retired even if we were Cup contenders. It's being done because it's the right thing to do. Quote
Sabre Dance Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 You are wrong. Bread and circuses is something done to distract the masses from problems. Hasek's number would be retired even if we were Cup contenders. It's being done because it's the right thing to do. And the Sabres currently have no problems whatsover... . I'm sure Hasek is about as thrilled with this "honor" as he would be with a letter of recognition from his middle school for Outstanding Achievment. Plus, doing it on a night when the opposing team is the one Hasek jumped to is rubbing salt in the wounds on both sides. To me, this "honor" has all the appeal of watching eye surgery. Well, I suppose it's a way for the Sabres to sell out at least one game this season. Quote

It seems implausible that he had no say in the choice of opponent. I'd've preferred it to be against the Otters especially if Yashin could have taken part. Hasek and Peca completely tore down any belief some might have had that Alexei could lead anything. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Richly deserved. Not my favorite Sabre ever (hardly), but, nonetheless, the greatest hockey player ever to wear the home team's uniform. Quote

Uncle Smell, would you please please plllleeeeaaaase tell the story about how you went to Dom's house that time and saw him in a terry cloth robe?????? But this time tell us what really happened at the end? Quote

But this time tell us what really happened at the end? (Giggling) Also, it was not a terrycloth robe. It was silk, or at least sheer. Also included in the outfit: overly long athletic shorts and flip-flops/slides. Quote
Stoner Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Uncle Smell, uhmmm, how hairy was his chest? And was it concave? Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Bread and circuses. Pizzalogs and Drafts. Quote
Aud Fellow Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Are these three big whiners Jerry, Bucky, & Schopp? Seriously though, I bet you guys were the ones whining the loudest to get rid of Darcy and Ruff, and now you're still whining despite getting what you wanted. This will be a great moment for the franchise, take some xanax. Quote
HopefulFuture Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Ok, I will have to come back to WNY for this one. I need to get tickets. Quote
SwampD Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) If Dom had some say in the night and he chose a night we play Detroit then F him. Cancel it. It's like one last FU to the Sabres. We know Dom. We know you left a talent hole that you wouldn't allow to be filled when you left, then won a Cup with Detroit. Or do you just want them to see what a number retirement party looks like to plant the seed that they will retire your number as well? Do we really need to retire his number? There are a whole host of goalies who have lost a SCF with their team. They didn't get their number retired. Sorry. That's a little negative. You know, it will be a great night. We'll all join together to celebrate the greatest goalie to ever play for the Sabres, for the league. It will be great. And the we'll watch the worst team in the history of the league., PA, say hi to dad. Edited October 21, 2014 by SwampD Quote
