kas23 Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Interesting there's a flu-like illness ripping through the locker room. I can just see it know: Terry: you know Joe, I don't like where this season's heading. Joe: oh, don't worry boss, I got just the thing to derail this.
dudacek Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Battista was seen leaving the Harbour Centre prior to practice Thursday with a handful of envelopes and a strange white powder on his cuffs.
inkman Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Why are any of us posting? PMs for everything, dark will never get to 20k in time! You may be onto something

Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Rumours Murray is about to trade Enroth and sign David Aebischer out of the Swiss league. :w00t: That's great, but the Swiss are world renowned for never taking a stand, ever. So, they have no need for tanks.

Nobody is catching Edmonton. Meanwhile, let's all try to convince ourselves that Pavel Zacha will lead us to a Cup someday. I guess it's not impossible.

I guess it's not impossible. We still have over 50% of the season to go, I think we can still make a run for Edmonton.
Robviously Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 We still have over 50% of the season to go, I think we can still make a run for Edmonton. I can't imagine it happening for a bunch of reasons, but the two big ones are: 1. Our players are trying to win; Edmonton's players are trying to get traded 2. Edmonton plays in the West; we play in the East. To put that in perspective, Colorado is considered a bad team in the West and completely dismantled us on Saturday night in Buffalo.

Alternate perspective: Colorado isn't a bad team in the West, they're just a bad team. Considering their dismantling of us what does it say about the Sabres? We're very much contenders for the Shart. I guess it's not impossible. Hey, this is Buffalo we're talking here. Of course Zacha can lead us to a cup. Roy and Connolly were Top 20 Centers at one time and Darcy has done nothing wrong.
pi2000 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 History has proven that the NHL standings ultimately shake out based on team goal differential.. namely the team with the worst diff always finishes last. Buffalo is still in last place... http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20142015&sort=standingsGoalDifferential&type=LEA some recent history: http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20132014&type=LEA http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20122013&type=LEA (wtf TB?) http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20112012&type=LEA http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20102011&type=LEA http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20102011&type=LEA ..for that reason I'm not worried. ARI and CAR are better teams than their record shows... they'll move up, while I fully expect BUF to drop.
Hoss Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Carolina and Phoenix are worse teams and will become worse when they ship off some players (Sekera, Yandle, Vermette and a few others all have potential to be moved).
SabresFuture Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Carolina and Phoenix are worse teams and will become worse when they ship off some players (Sekera, Yandle, Vermette and a few others all have potential to be moved). You think Carolina and Arizona are worse than us? I don't think that at all, perhaps if they start shipping off players, but right now, no way.
wjag Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 it feels like Edmonton might never win another game They had a 5-3 lead yesterday and lost 6-5... They're truly deserving of the number 1 pick.
dudacek Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 They had a 5-3 lead yesterday and lost 6-5... They're truly deserving of the number 1 pick. No, they are deserving of finishing last. The number one pick will go to the team that wins the lottery — us.
WildCard Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 No, they are deserving of finishing last. The number one pick will go to the team that wins the lottery — us. The Sabres finishing outside of the bottom 2 and winning the lottery will be the most excited I'll be for a Buffalo sports team since 2007

The good news is there were only 3 teams in action and only 1 of those (the Desert Dogs) are among the Carrion elite at present. Extremely full slate tonight as everyone but the Otters are in action including 2 potential 1 point matchups. There's a 4.5 bagger set to be played in the swamps of Joisey as the Candy Canes traipse into town. There's an even bigger 5 bagger brewing on the Albertan plains as the Desert Dogs try to calculate a plan to stop the juggernauts (aka the Euler, aka the team that Gretzky forgot). The Sabres are in Detroit hoping to gain on those 4. If ever there was a night you need picture in picture in picture; tonight's that night.

So we're shooting for a Sabres win in regulation, a Canes OT loss, and an Oilers OT loss.... Sabres would pickup 2 points, while ARI/NJ pickup a single point, and EDM/CAR stay put.

TheFunPolice Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) gotta lose tonight... tonight is HUGE If they don't end up with one of the big two after all this it is REALLY REALLY going to suck essentially not having hockey for a couple years Sadly it looks like the Sabres are in trouble in this one, as the Red Wings are down to their 3rd goalie Edited December 23, 2014 by TheFunPolice
