3putt Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Yeah I can't go through another epoch of "they're are a gritty team, short on talent but blue collar".
WildCard Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 We're ###### Latvia and we make every team in the league look like Canada. Sure we'll steal some wins, but it's not sustainable over 82 games and a postseason. It's beyond frustrating. Like watching that Eaten Alive special and we signed up to be eaten alive, yet we're still alive.
sicknfla Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Trade Enroth and resign him in the summer if you want him that bad. Trade Myers now. Bottom line is you would trade them both for McEichle in a heartbeat so stop playing around. I am not even sure i would trade Myers but if Murray is intent on doing so then get it done. Like watching that Eaten Alive special and we signed up to be eaten alive, yet we're still alive. I keep hearing this whole "it's not sustainable" thing, and I wonder, at what point does that become a fallacy? Because they're sustaining this pretty well. Are we still going to be saying "it's not sustainable" in a week? Two weeks? A month?
WildCard Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 I keep hearing this whole "it's not sustainable" thing, and I wonder, at what point does that become a fallacy? Because they're sustaining this pretty well. Are we still going to be saying "it's not sustainable" in a week? Two weeks? A month? It's only 10% of an entire season we've played "well." And by that I mean being heavily out shot and relying on Enroth to be Hasek. He's not Hasek, we have one good line, and our two best d-men can't even drink yet. What we're watching is Nolan being Nolan. What I've wondered is how Nolan would fair with a skilled team. I'd be interested in giving him a roster with some actual talent on it rather than relying on being the guy who busts their balls more

Because they're sustaining this pretty well. Are we still going to be saying "it's not sustainable" in a week? Two weeks? A month? It's only sustainable if Enroth is the next Hasek. His performance in the past month is as good or better than Hasek. Maybe he is the next Hasek. If this keeps up through January, you got to sign him to an extension.

Maybe he is the next Hasek. If this keeps up through January, you got to sign him to an extension. What's crazy is that if the Sabres keep this pace on the back of Enroth, they could finish the season with about 95 points. The chances are very very slim, but...they could make the playoffs.
JJFIVEOH Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Every aspect of their game seems to be improving little by little, so it's not like somebody got hot and is carrying the team to a handful of wins. They've been horribly outshot most games this year but I don't think that is really a good indicator of how much they've been outplayed, if at all. Last year the SOG stats mirrored how well they played, it doesn't seem to be the situation this year. They might not be able to sustain an 8 win in 11 pace the rest of the year, but I highly doubt they'll come close to reverting to the way they were the first month of the season. Enroth needs to stay.
3putt Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Enroth is in a contract year, nothing more. He is who we thought and know he is. Nobody is ringing TM's phone off the hook because they know it too. This is an aberration but it is also a dangerous illusion. Move him at his peak. Jmho.

Move him for what? We have Neuvirth, Ulmark, and Makarov. We're not keeping both Neuvirth and Enroth as they're both FA, so it's up to Murray to see if the return-quality difference is that large between Neuvirth and Enroth. Personally I think Enroth gets a much higher trade value just off of his recent pay, but I don't think the difference in quality is that large. So ship off Enroth. Plus, Murray likes big bodies, and Enroth ain't one of them Edited December 12, 2014 by WildCard
3putt Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 For the same reason Johnny Football is starting this week. The Browns (and the Bills) deceived themselves into believing a career journeyman suddenly found his groove. They are career journeyman for a reason. When it matters, i.e. moving from pretenders to contenders, they wilt. I don't care what the return is, cut him outright if need be, but don't let the aberration derail the tank. We are succesful at home with the last change. On the road, when the opponent can match up with Ennis Moulson Girgs, we are offensively anemic. We are not good. But some will desire to believe that we are.

dudacek Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 It's funny watching Sabre fans melt down over the Sabres winning. My god did we buy into the suffering mantra. The spectre of Darcy looms over this franchise like Glen Cochrane over Kenny Linseman's shoulder.

bunomatic Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Enroth has 100 or more games under his belt which imo is desirable over Neuvirths paltry amount of games. They'll be calling for Enroth if anyone. If he can play the way he's playing in front of this Sabres team he should do the same or better in front of a playoff caliber team.

The spectre of Darcy looms over this franchise like Glen Cochrane over Kenny Linseman's shoulder. They are not winning anything. They are failing miserably in their rebuilding effort. They are being a stereotypicalBuffalo team. Close but no brass ring.
Randall Flagg Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 More than you know. :D Ryan will always be my favorite  But that's just a childhood hero, made-me-love-hockey thing.
