X. Benedict Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 Calling it now: Dallas Eakins gets fired after this game. We need to decide if a fired coach is still eligible for the Jack Hoff.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 Remember when eatkins was such hot ###### while coaching the baby leafs a couple years ago? So much so that our most learned TBPhD desperately wanted the Sabres to hire him, if I am not mistaken (and if I am my apologies). It seems that DH is one of those fancy stats kind of guys, or maybe I have that all wrong too. ----- What the heck is going on with the Sabres? This winning streak is a disaster, but I can't see it lasting. Weave, I laughed at your post about the Sabres being offensive.
Taro T Posted November 25, 2014 Author Report Posted November 25, 2014 Current standings through games played 11/24. Team ----- GP - L - W - OT - PTS Buffalo 21 13 6 2 28 Edmonton 21 13 6 2 28 Columbus 20 12 6 2 26 Carolina 20 11 6 3 25 Arizona 22 11 9 2 24 Colorado 21 9 7 5 23 Winnipeg 22 9 10 3 21 Florida 19 6 7 6 18 Calgary 22 7 13 2 16 NY I 21 6 15 0 12 Waiting on Fla to play before reshuffling. Filly and No Stars are a smidge over 0.500 but probably haven't earned inclusion yet. Lames and Garth's Goobers both far enough under 0.500 to warrant relegation back to the NHL (for now). Do people want the league to stay w/ the current 10 teams or fold 2 and drop to an 8 team league? Leaning towards dropping Calgary and GG's for a while. 6 teams in action including a 3 bagger (Jest @ BJ's) and a 1-1/2 bagger (Avs @ Desert Dogs). We need to decide if a fired coach is still eligible for the Jack Hoff. Eligible - probably. But the incomplete will factor into the grading.

pi2000 Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Buffalo is due to go on a tear. Team corsi %'s for EDM, CBS, and CAR are much worse than you would think by looking at the standings. I expect those 3 teams to drop in the standings over the next 4-6 weeks, with COL and ARI climbing their way up.
SabresFuture Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Yes, it was a rough weekend for us in the CHL, but fortunately we have a lot to play yet - I imagine creating some separation very soon. To corroborate the post above, here are our possession stats: http://www.hockey-reference.com/play-index/tpbp_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&year_min=2015&year_max=2015&team_id=&situation_id=all&order_by=fenwick_pct (Fenwick) (36.8%) http://www.hockey-reference.com/play-index/tpbp_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&year_min=2015&year_max=2015&team_id=&situation_id=all&order_by=corsi_pct (Corsi) (37%) Goals For/Games Played: http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm?fetchKey=20152ALLSAAAll&sort=avgGoalsPerGame&viewName=goalsFor (1.62)

LastPommerFan Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 I agree that it is time for relegation of the bottom 2.
WildCard Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Winnipeg @ Columbus Edmonton @ Dallas Colorado @ Arizona Big night tonight in the CHL, 3 big head to heads
dudacek Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Islanders need to stay in. I cite special circumstances and the faint hope clause.
X. Benedict Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Islanders need to stay in. I cite special circumstances and the faint hope clause. Kind of a Benchmark team. How is the Carrion League doing vs. the Lipper Average?
Brawndo Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 This is how you win the CHL Championship http://gfycat.com/FlippantFocusedCattle
Hoss Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Yea, the Sabres are going to create separation from the real contenders soon. No chance they can hang with these teams...
shrader Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 This is how you win the CHL Championship http://gfycat.com/FlippantFocusedCattle I think I can find the exact moment where they fired their goalie coach
LastPommerFan Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 I think I can find the exact moment where they fired their goalie coach Except that just happened. In the first period tonight.
Derrico Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Colorado and Arizona in ot. Finally a ###### break. Oh and I vote to remove the Garth's goobers so it stops jinxing us (and they've earned it).
Brawndo Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Horrible night in the CHL for Sabres Fans. Oilers open up a two point lead in the standings and the Blue Jackets have pulled into a tie with the Hometown Favorites Colorado and Arizona in ot. Finally a ###### break. Oh and I vote to remove the Garth's goobers so it stops jinxing us (and they've earned it). 15 wins in their First 21 Games for the first time ever, you are right its time to remove them.
TrueBlueGED Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 I still think the Flames are going to crash back down to Earth as the season moves on...but if this is going to be updated a few more times, I can't protest too strongly against temporarily dropping them. The Isles obviously have played themselves out of contention.
Hoss Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 I think Calgary and NY should come out. Philly can go in.
That Aud Smell Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 I haven't seen Calgary play, except for highlights. Their #fancystats suggest that they are due to come crashing down to earth.

Team ----- GP - L - W - OT - PTS Edmonton 22 14 6 2 30 Buffalo 21 13 6 2 28 Columbus 21 13 6 2 28 Carolina 20 11 6 3 25 Arizona 23 11 9 3 25 Colorado 22 9 8 5 23 Winnipeg 23 9 11 3 21 Florida 19 6 7 6 18 The dream of running in 1st from pole to pole is dead, as Sabres get beat to 30 by the Eulers. But the race isn't just to 30, it's a full 82 game marathon. Concensus seemed to be for league contraction, so we are back to an 8 team league - for now. Still have a fairly full night w/ 5 of 8 in action including 2 potential 1 pointer - Sabres host Jest, Swamp Cats host the Candy Canes, and Cowawado is the last team in action hosting Chicago; good luck keeping them away from 2 points.
Hoss Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) The Hurricanes are terrible, but Al Montoya and Roberto Luongo played out of their minds tonight. Look up Luongo's big save from tonight. It was beautiful. Edited November 27, 2014 by Tankalicious

Benoit w/ the giveaway behind the net on the 5 minute pp turned out to be HUGE. How Nolan can even consider not dressing him and Mess is difficult to fathom. Only 1 game tonight - Eulers in Nashville. Hopefully they can play like turkeys and find a way to blow the 2 points. It would give the Sabres' brass something to be thankful for (besides Mess & Benoit ;)). Happy Turkey Day to those in the States; happy Thursday to the rest of you. Thanksvto SDS for this site and the mods for all their hard work. :worthy:
X. Benedict Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Beano is my Carrion League player of the week: For muffs both timely and inexplicable, Andre Benoit wins a burning bag of poo inside a glass tank.
