Hoss Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Now that everybody's played 10+, time to reevaluate the league membership itself. I'm leaning towards expanding by 2 teams - Cowawado & Coewumbus. Though Calgawwy seems to be in danger of losing their charter, I'd prefer to keep an even # of franchises and nobody else has really played themselves out yet. Thoughts? Kick out Calgary and put in the team they beat tonight -- Washington Crapitals.
WildCard Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) Now that everybody's played 10+, time to reevaluate the league membership itself. I'm leaning towards expanding by 2 teams - Cowawado & Coewumbus. Though Calgawwy seems to be in danger of losing their charter, I'd prefer to keep an even # of franchises and nobody else has really played themselves out yet. Thoughts? I think reevaluating the league every month or ~10 games is the way to go. Not sure it'll be necessary by January as there will probably be a core 5 of top CHL teams at that point, but I like the idea until we get there. I say include CBJ and Colorado; at this point I'm regularly checking in on them to see where they are anyways. Kick out Calgary and put in the team they beat tonight -- Washington Crapitals. Agreed. Calgary looks good, being labeled as "The hardest working team in hockey" by some  Someone on here, or a few people, were talking about how the Caps were gonna struggle this season. Looks like they might want in a different league after all Edited November 5, 2014 by WildCard
Taro T Posted November 5, 2014 Author Report Posted November 5, 2014 Kick out Calgary and put in the team they beat tonight -- Washington Crapitals. If there's concensus to make that move, I can; I'm leaning though to waiting 10 more games to punt anyone. Mainly to make sure someone that's having a tough time hanging w/ the titans such as the Sabres didn't just hit a run of bad luck (cough, cough, Garth's Goobers' 4-0 start, I'm looking @ you) and really do belong in the CHL. It's not much of a league if certain teams pop in & out every month or so.
bunomatic Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 That truly is brilliant stuff there. I can see GMTM just sitting there "it's just a fart. What would make you think otherwise, Teddy?". Its an epic Shart. Its a friggin shartnado.
TrueBlueGED Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Calgary has terrible possession numbers and a wildly inflated PDO. No way should they be thrown out.
wjag Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Calgary has terrible possession numbers and a wildly inflated PDO. No way should they be thrown out. I watched them in DC tonight. They got some fluky goals.. Went to last two Caps games. Saw a total of 18 goals scored. I have seen more goals in two games than the Sabres have scored all season.
... Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014  Might be worthy for league motto. I'll second this. Kick out Calgary and put in the team they beat tonight -- Washington Crapitals. That's "Warshinton Crapitols".
Taro T Posted November 5, 2014 Author Report Posted November 5, 2014 Current standings through games played 11/4. Team ----- GP - L - W - OT - PTS Buffalo 13 9 3 1 19 Edmonton 13 7 4 1 15 Carolina 11 6 3 2 14 Arizona 12 6 5 1 13 Winnipeg 13 5 7 1 11 Calgary 14 4 8 2 10 NY I 11 5 6 0 10 Florida 10 2 4 4 8 Buffalo & GG's only teams in action tonight. Well rested squads could have statement games tonight. GG's could continue rise from the cellar and Sabres could put more distance between themselves and the competition.
Hoss Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Definitely think it's time to put Washington in the mix whether or not another team is booted. They've been bad. They could sell off Mike Green at some point and become worse. Meanwhile, Buffalo is officially right where they should be. A loss by the three teams ahead of them and they get some breathing room in the actual standings on top of the breathing room they've already gained in the Carrion.

They have lost five straight and 6 of 7.

If they makes personnel moves they'd definitely get consideration. But right now they'd only be 1 game over 0.500 w/ 3 straight 1 goal games and essentially 5 straight (Datsyk made it a 2 goal game in the last minute and the 'Nucks has an EN). The other 2 teams that probably do get added are 3 & 4 games over 0.500 respectively. I'll definitely listen if you want to make a case for Ovie's crew, but at present they seem too close to respectability to put them in. (Not saying they necessarily are respectable, just that they could be.) Convince us that the last few are real and more than just a solid patch like the one the Snarks went through earlier.
Stoner Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Taro, for historical perspective, would you consider going back to the future and doing something truly historic: expanding the league by adding a team from the past? Say, the 74-75 Capitol Carpet Baggers or the expansion Ot'wat Senators?

Maybe something to keep in mind for the end of the year?

Maybe something to keep in mind for the end of the year? I agree with this. But I do think it's a cool idea. Maybe every five or so games you can put a sentence after the standings saying what those teams were at if you so choose. Keeps the standings clean but also puts this season in historical context.

Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 I know that Taro is the commish of the Carrion, but I nominate PA to be his deputy. ----- And I hate to derail this thread, but I could not help but notice that WildCard has updated his location ...
dudacek Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Is Columbus going to be the next Colorado? Good young team has bad year when superb prospect is there and gets him? I'm worried Colorado might be the next Colorado. So many teams in this that should not be Shart-worthy.

We already have X as the director and Tank has some role. Throwing PA in as something other than an enlightened observer would be anarchy I tell ya. ;)

Hoss Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Any team that enters the CHL should remain until they are mathematically eliminated from a top five finish. That'll be around game 75.
Derrico Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Ya I think it may get to be too many teams if some can't drop out. I don't think we should have to drop any teams but if they are way behind and not a real threat at that time they can be moved out (with the potential to move back in down the road). By the way we are much further than 10 games in so can we atleast add in Columbus. I know it's due to injuries but I didn't even realize how high they are in the CHL standings until someone mentioned how bad they are in another thread.
Brawndo Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 That'll be around game 75. That's why the CHL is the most rigorous Pro League around
