Brawndo Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 WHAT DID YOU DO, RAY? "I tried to think of the most harmless thing...something that could never, ever possibly destroy us....Mr. Stay Puft!"
Johnny DangerFace Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Nothing realistic or fun about it. I do get it, there has been a long history of hypocrisy on this board. Posters who claim they would never root against their team under any circumstance are doing just that. There is no fun in watching this team lose. Yea nice of you to speak for everyone! I don't participate in this thread or root for the sabres to lose. But the topic is clearly meant for some fun and tank talk. Some people actually root for the sabres to lose and have fun, who cares
LabattBlue Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Not speaking for all posters, but many are trying to keep pro-tank talk here or in the "tank is 1/2 over" thread.
Brawndo Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Is it weird to root for my team to lose, absolutely. But I realize finishing in 30th place gets them Jack Eichel and if we are lucky Connor McDavid. The people I feel horrible for in this cluster ###### are the season ticket holders
LastPommerFan Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 A thread dedicated to rooting against the Sabres? Funny how things change. Wasn't too long ago that posters would claim that's what I and others were doing. Now it seems to be the in thing to do. Which is pretty friggin sad. I may not have liked who was running Sabres or the make up of their roster, I never actively rooted against them. This thread was created specifically to avoid poisoning the other threads with talk of the long term benefits of losing a lot this year. That is certainly something that has not ever happened on the board before. People with a negative outlook and drumbeat message of what needs to be done voluntarily moving their semi-psychotic dreariness to a quarantined zone where innocent fans need not be infected. It's not working perfectly, but it is reducing the amount of tank talk on the GDTs and other threads. I hope that helps to explain the CHL's existence. I'm mostly here to enjoy the schadenfrued that is the NY Islanders.

You're just angry because you invented being negative and now all these hipsters are doing it.

WildCard Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) Losipeg loses tonight too against the mighty Blackhawks. I still hold that the Sabres are head and shoulders above everyone else in this league. Guess we'll find out Friday when the Empty Net Edmonton Oilers square off against the Seemingly Shorthanded Buffalo Sabres in a CHL Ali vs Frazier. Edited November 3, 2014 by WildCard

Posters who claim they would never root against their team under any circumstance are doing just that. There is no fun in watching this team lose. The commissioners of the CHL ask you to grab your High School Anthology and look up irony in the glossary. Do this now. And then wear some color to fight some disease. Because we care. Canes wo two in a row in regulation over the weekend Carolina and the Islanders in the Carrion making moves. Temporary or trend? I say trend.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 What a let down after that gem in the Pitts Burgh. Oh, well. I guess we can't win them all. All the closest competition in the CHL screwed up too, so there is that, at least. ----- NS back in the saddle again.

shrader Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 I just feel so bad for the other players who won't have a chance. Admit it, you would refuse to vote for Drew Stafford in the CHL all stars just out of spite.
Doohicksie Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) The tank sucks. So does a root canal, but when it's all done you can enjoy eating again. The tank is like that. It's something we have to endure. We don't have to like it, but like it or not, make light of it or not, it's a fact of life with this team right now. If we're going to finish out of playoff contention, might as well be dead last. (And I don't think anyone here thinks they'll make the playoffs this year.) And how we feel about the tank, what we post about it here, doesn't affect whether the team wins or loses, you know. Some posters here might have trouble wrapping their head around that. bob_sauve28 Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 In our last 5 games we have two wins and points in three of those games. Doomed! :death:

nfreeman Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Eyes on the prize... @reporterchris: Connor McDavid records his seventh (!) four-point night in 14 games this season. We really might not be talking enough about this kid. 42 points in 14 games for Conner, in a 68 game season (I think that's what they play?) that equates to...204 points. Again: the Sabres have less than a 1-in-5 chance of getting McD. You can keep your eyes on him all you like -- it is highly unlikely that he ends up here. Separately: the Islanders are making a nice little run in the CHL, innit? They're only a few more losses away from pushing for 2nd place.

Derrico Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Eichel is the target. He is sitting at 4 goals and 5 assists in 5 college games played. Those are insane numbers for that level. In comparison, I love JT Compher as one of our prospects and he has 3 assists in 7 college games played. Compher is also a year and a half older.

CallawaySabres Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 You know what my wish for this season is.....for the Sabres to lose a ton right now, get in a position to where 2nd to last place team is 12 points ahead, and THEN cheer on victories for the remainder of the season.
bob_sauve28 Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 The target is Eichel, if the Sabres win the lottery that's a huge bonus. Would you choose him over McDavid given the chance?
SabresFuture Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Hey all, Love that this thread was created. In a year that is difficult (by design), I'm having a ton of fun. As Buffalo fans we have legitimate rooting interests every night (against the Islanders and Blues, for 3-point games for pretty much everyone else for instance - especially the Canes and Coyotes right now). I'm all on board with the plan Murray has setup and actually had the chance to see Eichel in person this weekend. I went up to Boston to visit family and we went to the BU/Providence game. He didn't have as good of a game as he had the night before (shorthanded goal, assist), but you could see his skills on display. He's a big guy who flies up and down the ice, is physical, and is constantly creating opportunities for his team. In a year that the NHL wanted to discourage tanking, there's really only one great scenario: finish last so you have 100% chance of getting McDavid or Eichel. The odds of getting one of them drop dramatically after that, so it'll be a very interesting race to the bottom. If the 2015 draft was not as strong as it is, I don't think there would be the support that we see, but because of the generational talents available it's garnered more interest.

It's very early, but he is tied as the top points per game player in the nation right now. BU has played a couple fewer games than most teams so far. Friday is where the fun begins with the Eichel-Hanifin matchup.
