Hoss Posted January 17, 2015 Author Report Posted January 17, 2015 You would be adding a very good possession forward, but taking any your big minute D Man. That might be a wash. Probably, yes. As long as Myers is the guy we'd be sending their way. Quote
Brawndo Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 What would it take? The Avs would ask for Myers, Grigo and a first.? Pysyk? Would GMTM/Sakic consider Myers for ROR straight up? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 I've wanted O'Reilly for a few years now. My list of untouchables is limited to Girgensons, Ristolainen, Reinhart, and our #1. I'd hesitate on others, but those are the only things that make me hang up the phone. Quote
sicknfla Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 O'Reilly would be great insurance if we didn't get McEichle. Simply draft Marner. With McEichle we would be LOADED at center with no room for Grigs. Quote
Brawndo Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) And he is having a down year based on this analytics, which should not interfere with the tank. Brawndo Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 Avs have two scouts at FNC tonight. Make that 3 Scouts Quote

Brawndo Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 What weakness? Wings? No Centers. One of the scouts is Garth Joy Asst. Director of Player Personnel for the Avs Quote
BagBoy Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 IMHO you guys are over-rating O'Reilly. I'm not saying he has no value, but I wouldn't even think about taking him for Myers straight up, and I'm not really that high on Myers. Quote
Hoss Posted January 17, 2015 Author Report Posted January 17, 2015 Avs have two scouts at FNC tonight. Make that 3 Scouts Yeap. Including the assistant director of player personnel. I would do Myers for O'Reilly straight up. I would be willing to mix and match other prospect/picks. IMHO you guys are over-rating O'Reilly. I think he's about a 60-point player on good teams (well behind that pace this year). Great possession player and an awesome defender. Good to great at everything. Quote

BagBoy Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 I dunno. Maybe I'm just afraid that we end up dealing Myers somewhere, and then he actually lives up to the Chara 2.0 expectations/hopes when he's gone. Also, O'Reilly's output is noticeably down this year. Quote
French Collection Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 O'Reilly is a solid young top six forward or top notch third liner on a good team. However, he only has a year left beyond this season while Myers has multiple years left. That has to come into the equation. I would do the straight up deal and try to extend him next year if he's a good fit. I like Tyler but he's not gonna be what we hope for. Quote

His limited offensive skills aren't going to help this year's team. He is young and together with Z will be the perfect 5,6 or 7 forwards. Quote

He is young and together with Z will be the perfect 5,6 or 7 forwards. Except that at his salary he must be better than a 5, 6 or 7 forward. He should be a # 1 C and is paid like it. Although he is obviously not performing like it. Not to sure I want to do this deal being the short term of his contract vs Tylers. Quote

There's a bit too much put into "number one center," "top six forward," etc. when it comes to salaries. O'Reilly is a big building block. Somebody you want on your team wherever he is playing. Quote
dudacek Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) I'd do Myers for O'Reilly no sweat. If O'Reilly was on Crusty's contract I would do it. But given his history I am really worried he will walk after next year. I like OReilly a lot, but he is not the player some make him out to be. I can see potential for a similar career path to Mike Richards. Edited January 18, 2015 by dudacek Quote

Your top two centers and your top 2 defenseman will be years away from top end salary so you can afford to pay guys like ROR. It doesn't mean you want to waste money but you can afford better depth players until your top guys are ready to command top salaries. Quote
respk Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 Very hesitant to trade for ROR. Would definitely not include Myers and Grigorenko for him. Too much promise for a most likely known qty. Quote

Too much promise for a most likely known qty. Myers is as known as Reilly at this point. Grigorenko has a lot of promise but will he ever reach it? Looking less likely than it is likely. Don't think it would take both anyways. Quote
dudacek Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) I've already called Hodgson untradeable, but the Avs are one of the few teams that may have some interest. He could fill O'Reilly's roster spot and I think he would produce playing with the likes of Duchene or McKinnon. With him as a throw-in, Im not sure what I would give up as the main piece(s) that they might want. Grigorenko? Zadorov? NYI or StL first? Myers and Hodgson for O'Reilly and Av's first?
