Sabres Fan in NS
Freeman, I am here to smash your ray of hope like a hooligan smashes a pumpkin. The Isles are 11th in Corsi% and 5th in Fenwick%. 14th in close Corsi% and 3rd in close Fenwick%. Small sample size warning and stuff, but those numbers are unlikely to regress enough for the Isles to give us a high lottery pick. Possible, of course, but it's also possible the Sabres make a playoff push. Just not happening. Must you rain on all our hope parades with all your fancy stats? :P
Eleven
I don't know anything about Setoguchi, what's his upside, besides the fact he's not Drew Stafford? It's enough for me.
TrueBlueGED
Must you rain on all our hope parades with all your fancy stats? :P Does it really count as raining on the parade if nobody believes in them? :P
Sabres Fan in NS
Does it really count as raining on the parade if nobody believes in them? :P Yup. Just a raining down of gibberish to me. You are smarter than me ... I've seen your qualifications ... You got a PhD ... I've got 1 art 0 level ... it did nothing for me ... :flirt: So, when you quote these fancy stats, if I believe in them, it makes no difference ... I believe what you are telling me, since you believe in them and actually know and care what they mean.
Randall Flagg
I don't know anything about Setoguchi, what's his upside, besides the fact he's not Drew Stafford? Me either! It's interesting because of Minnesota's end, they'd be a Goose and Roysie away from our failed core :P I would be amused to see them end up with Stafford after grabbing Pominville and Vanek. dudacek
Setoguchi is on the Flames now. Minnesota let him walk rather than take Stafford for him.

Sabres Fan in NS
Setoguchi is on the Flames now. Minnesota let him walk rather than take Stafford for him. So, there's your answer everybody. Either this Setoguchi is the worst player in the league, or Stafford is. Looks like Stafford, since the Wild preferred no one for Setoguchi rather than Stafford ... :w00t: . Looks like Stafford is a lifer, unless the Sabres just let him walk. And, I really enjoyed your repeated rants.
shrader
Setoguchi is on the Flames now. Minnesota let him walk rather than take Stafford for him. Just barely in Calgary. He'll probably put in some time wherever there AHL team is this year.

The Corsi and Fenwick numbers are nullified by one undeniable fact, we are talking about the New York Islanders here. There are two things we can count on. John Tavaras is going to miss significant time due to injury and they will make a horrible trade at some point during the season. An ideal trade scenario for the Sabres would be Myers ending up with one of the Alberta teams for a #1 pick. I had hoped to see a different Myers coming into this season, it's apparent to me that he needs a change of scenery to jump start his career. The tools are there so there is value. Hoss
Chris Nichols Friedman: "I still think Ottawa is interested in Chris Stewart. I wouldn't be surprised if that's a potential match." #Sabres #Sens Chris Nichols Friedman: #Sabres, "at times," have talked with #mnwild about Drew Stafford. Stafford for Setoguchi discussed a couple of years ago. Chris Nichols Friedman: "I do think the chances that Grigorenko gets dealt are much less likely than I thought a year ago at this point in time." #Sabres Good stuff. I still think Ottawa and Buffalo will connect on a trade eventually.

Yea, sorry, "they're the Islanders" isn't a reason and Tavares has missed significant time a whopping once in his career. How much improved over last year? They were 19th-22nd depending on the stat (too lazy to type out each one).

TrueBlueGED
TBD what is your favorite site for fancy stats? I think Toronto has hired most of them.
Huckleberry
Well yeah, who would trade grigs ? At this point, untill you draft Mceichel, he is our best prospect at center, at worst he becomes a 2B after reinhart and mceichel that can win Facoffs with zemgus on his wing. Brawndo
Add Pittsburgh onto the list of potential suitors for Chris Stewart. From Bruce Garrioch Column in Ottawa Sun. (Yes some on the board feel he throws ###### at the wall to see what sticks, but this rumor does make sense) The Sabres are in no rush to move winger Chris Stewart, but there’s no shortage of interest. The Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators have both made inquiries on Stewart but you can add the Penguins to that list as well. GM Jim Rutherford has been sniffing around for another forward since camp started. Right now, GM Tim Murray may have to sell low because Stewart isn’t exactly playing well. Murray wants a big return but that will change by the deadline Edited November 3, 2014 by BRAWNDO
