Hoss Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Alright guys, I figured we could have a little fun here and see what everybody thinks heading into this season. Some have mentioned their predictions elsewhere, but we could get a good discussion going here. Predict the results of these: Where do the Sabres finish: Eastern Conference Finals: Western Conference Finals: Stanley Cup Finals: Hart Trophy: Vezina Trophy: Norris (defenseman): Jack Adams (coach): Bonus: Who will be the biggest name moved during the season? Eleven Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Surprised no one has started this yet. Have at it; your predictions for the Sabres and for the 29 teams that are fun to hate at least once a year. Mine: Sabres finish bottom 5 but not dead last. EC playoffs (in no particular order): Montreal, Boston, Toronto (yeah, I wrote that), Washington, Pittsburgh, Rangers. Detroit and Philadelphia will not have great years but will make it in as wildcards because the rest of the conference isn't good enough. WC playoffs: Same as last year. Miller isn't enough to fix a broken Vancouver team. Quote
Hoss Posted October 5, 2014 Author Report Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) It was started two days ago by me. Same title, too. Not sure if it's still there. Yes: http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/22767-2014-15-nhl-season-predictions/#entry610184 Edited October 5, 2014 by Tankalicious Quote
wjag Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 I do not believe playoffs are likely. So I will go with the bottom five prediction: 30. Arizona 29. Edmonton 28. Carolina 27. Calgary 26. Buffalo #1 pick goes to Edmonton. Quote

Mike Green Some bold picks there. A coach winning his second Adams, Dallas making the WCF, Price winning a Vez. This is not a man afraid of his predictions. Quote
Hoss Posted October 6, 2014 Author Report Posted October 6, 2014 Some bold picks there. A coach winning his second Adams, Dallas making the WCF, Price winning a Vez. This is not a man afraid of his predictions. Ruff and Price have been picked multiple times in this thread. They'll be trendy picks all over. Quote
LastPommerFan Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Where do the Sabres finish: 7th in the East, better than 215 goals Eastern Conference Finals: Pittsburgh over Tampa Western Conference Finals: Chicago over Anaheim Stanley Cup Finals: Pittsburgh over Chicago Hart Trophy: Sidney Crosby Vezina Trophy: Rinne Norris (defenseman): Karlsson Jack Adams (coach): Nolan Bonus: Who will be the biggest name moved during the season? Hoss Posted October 6, 2014 Author Report Posted October 6, 2014 Chalking up any postseason Sabres talk as "you're a Sabres fan, you HAVE to say that." Truly no legitimate reason to think otherwise. Quote
WildCard Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Where do the Sabres finish: 7th in the East, better than 215 goals Eastern Conference Finals: Pittsburgh over Tampa Western Conference Finals: Chicago over Anaheim Stanley Cup Finals: Pittsburgh over Chicago Hart Trophy: Sidney Crosby Vezina Trophy: Rinne Norris (defenseman): Karlsson Jack Adams (coach): Nolan Bonus: Who will be the biggest name moved during the season? Spezza Short of Boston winning the cup and signing Stafford to a 5yr extension, this would make for one long-ass NHL season Quote
Norcal Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Where do the Sabres finish: 28th Eastern Conference Finals: Blue Jackets over Lightning Western Conference Finals: Kings over Blues Stanley Cup Finals: Kings over Blue Jackets Hart Trophy: Kopitar Vezina Trophy: Bobrovski Norris (defenseman): Karlsson Jack Adams (coach): Todd Richards CBJ Bonus: Who will be the biggest name moved during the season? Stafford, Chara Quote
Hoss Posted October 7, 2014 Author Report Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Because I forgot about the new playoff format, I'll redo my picks: Where do the Sabres finish: Second to last. Eastern Conference Finals: Tampa Bay Lightning over Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-2 Western Conference Finals: Chicago Blackhawks over Anaheim Ducks, 4-1 Stanley Cup Finals: Chicago Blackhawks over Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-2 Hart Trophy: Steven Stamkos Vezina Trophy: Carey Price Norris (defenseman): Ryan Suter Jack Adams (coach): Jon Cooper Bonus: Who will be the biggest name moved during the season? Evander Kane to Philadelphia. Because I'm ridiculously bored: Full NHL standings prediction: 1. Chicago 2. Pittsburgh 3. Tampa Bay 4. Anaheim 5. Boston 6. Los Angeles 7. St. Louis 8. Montreal 9. Detroit 10. Dallas 11. Minnesota 12. Colorado 13. Columbus 14. New York Rangers 15. Vancouver 16. New York Islanders 17. Philadelphia 18. San Jose 19. Washington 20. Toronto 21. Ottawa 22. Edmonton 23. New Jersey 24. Arizona 25. Florida 26. Nashville 27. Carolina 28. Calgary 29. Buffalo 30. Winnipeg Edited October 7, 2014 by Tankalicious Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Where do the Sabres finish: Low. Not good enough? Fine. They finish 29th leaving us all hoping and praying for some good fortune. Carolina and Calgary terrify me. Eastern Conference Finals: Tampa over Pittsburgh. I'm not comfortable betting on a goaltender with only 1 proven year...but it beats the hell outta betting on Fleury! Western Conference Finals: Chicago over Dallas. Lindy likes losing in the conference finals, or something like that  Stanley Cup Finals: Chicago over Tampa. Still not a big fan of the Tampa blue line. Hart Trophy: Tavares. I predict big things for the Isles this year, and if I'm right, he'll be a big part of it. Vezina Trophy: Rask. Arguably the best goaltender playing on arguably the best defensive team. Norris (defenseman): Shea Weber. Maybe a bit of a lifetime achievement award, but whatever. Almost went with Doughty here. Jack Adams (coach): Mike Babcock. Lots of people predicting the Red Wings to fall off...I think he helps prevent that and earns recognition for it. Bonus: Who will be the biggest name moved during the season? Joe Thornton Quote
Hoss Posted June 30, 2015 Author Report Posted June 30, 2015 Decided to pull this back to see who got what... Hart: No picks for Carey Price. Vezina: Dudacek, Freeman and I picked Carey Price correctly. Norris: Deluca, Whiskey and Sabres12 all picked Karlsson correctly. Jack Adams: No picks for Bob Hartley Conference Finals: A lot of good calls here TrueBlue had the two conference winners right but not the losers. I had 3/4 with the correct winners. Bills12 had Tampa losing. Whiskey had 3/4 with Chicago over Anaheim but had Pittsburgh winning the East. Freeman had Tampa losing. DeLuca had Tampa losing. Dudacek had 3/4 teams right but had Chicago and Anaheim losing. WildCard had 3/4 with Tampa losing. Stanley Cup Finals: TrueBlue and I nailed the finals with Chicago over Tampa (I even predicted it would be in 6 games) WildCard had Chicago winning over Pittsburgh. Quote
