Yep. Second overall pick and a key ingredient to the tank should manage a point in four games against other prospects. Second overall picks should dominate his peers - not just "play well".

One more time, with feeling: ###### happens over tiny samples. Crosby went something like 12 straight playoff games without a goal and was totally shut out against Boston a few years ago. I guess he sucks and isn't the best player in the world. It's completely and totally insane to make any kind of judgment based on four prospect games.

I am not racing to judgement. No more than if he scored 6 goals and 3 assists at the tourney. I GUARANTEE you though, with emphasis, that if he did you all would be anointing him as the next Crosby. My point in all this is I hate throwing seasons away on draft picks that are going to be our savor.

Like we see with Reinhart- these are kids that will take years to develop into men. For some of you that think after this season we are going to wave a magic wand and all will be great are nuts. The tank might be over after this year but the growing and developing into a Cup contender are years away.

Joe Namath, you are not.

Lol. I am just busting balls. Trying to get the preseason juices flowing. Figure if i can get some of you worked up we might get a little more in the hockey mood.

Anyone who has read my posts for the last year knows i have fully supported the tank. I also know that 2015 could very well be the most important year in our history. I do believe though that it is imperative that we walk away next summer with at least two natural goal scorers. How GMTM goes about that we will see but the current pipeline is lacking that.

One more year of the tank left boys and girls....

For those unsure if this year will be any more entertaining than last - atleast this year we can also follow NY Isles and Blues and hope for losses.

You know I'm coming around...screw the tank. We can just pick some top end talent off the top end talent tree, or have TM trade for some top 6 guys that other teams clearly don't want or need. Boom. Playoff run. <_<

Darcy started us on this road and TM kicked it into high gear. There is no turning back.

Tim Murray, the many emotions of our GM

post-2716-0-33381000-1411069566_thumb.png

This guy looks more apt to have his mugshot taken for kiddy porn than he does as a NHL GM. Kind of a strange cat. Pretty sure he wasn't Mr. Popularity in High School.

I don't think his expression would change even if one of those woman on his side reached over and grabbed his crotch.

I have a mental image of Aud running down the street with that barstool, looking back for the po-po.

At least he's not holding a beer like a douchebag.

Her much more prominent role in these goodwill missions is, of course, very welcome.

It is also, of course, making things difficult for me around the office.

Please feel free to list that talent. You really think our farm system is Cup material? Find me a 30 goal scorer in that group. For that matter find me 20. Grigs and Armia have more of a chance to be busts than solid players. Zadarov is know being questioned about weight, skating, and work ethic. Reinhart has done nothing (i understand he has limited time here) in prospect camp or Traverse City.

I knew someone would jump to the defense of the tank so I wasn't worried about delay. But I will try to keep the tc mo rolling. Having lived in Pittsburgh during their halcyon days with Lemieux Jagr Francis st al and now I live in Chicago. It is different when hour expectation is elevated. Yeah I know injuries etc, but when you have talent and depth it changes your outlook. As for natural goal scorers, Baptiste, Possler, and yes Armia are all in that group. But don't discount Risto, Ennis, and Moulson. We have them and are adding more. We have talent and will build an environment where players exceed expectations. But we must weather one more storm.

I can't stand the conscious decision by some to support short term mediocrity against long term success. But then I look at the last 50 years of American policymaking and I see where it comes from.

There is far more internal stability and direction than last year at this time. They may not make the playoffs, but I believe we're going to see much better hockey by the time December rolls around.

...and IMO any improvement to the defense and forwards will be offset by the goaltending which will be below average this year no matter who is in net.

I don't know our forwards will even be that much better.

Our forward lines look like potentially:

Moulson - Ennis - Gionta

Hodgson - Girgensons - Stafford

Foligno - Reinhart - Stewart

Deslaurier - McCormic - Kaleta

I see very few goal scorers and a weak left side.

Even on D we have

Georges - Myers

Meszaros - Risto

Weber/Benoit - Pysyk

Considering we had the Hoff last year the D doesn't look much better either.

As you said, our goaltending is a considerable downgrade from where we were last year.

Could be a long season.....

Could be??? No it will be. Look at that lineup and then project how many goals for each. That lineup has 150 goals or less written all over it - just like last year. We will give up 250+. Tank is safe.

Our forward lines look like potentially:

Moulson(25) - Ennis(20) - Gionta(15)

Hodgson(20) - Girgensons(15) - Stafford(20)

Foligno(10) - Reinhart(15) - Stewart(20)

Deslaurier(5) - McCormic(5) - Kaleta(5)

Georges(1) - Myers(9)

Meszaros(5) - Risto(5)

Weber(1)/Benoit(3) - Pysyk(1)

Based on that I see around 200 goals

Stewart and Stafford are in contract years with 30 goal potential, thus 20

Hodgson and Ennis have both averaged about 20 a year

Moulson will be on all power plays and I think he'll hit 25

Girgs steps up a bit more, I see about 40 points this year for him

Reinhart is a shot in the dark to be honest, and it made the math cleaner

4th line combined should get around 15 to 20 goals (includes other subs)

Myers has a good season, so about 9.

Risto and Meszaros get 5 a piece, I think Risto will start looking like a true #1 D-man as the year progresses

Without Leino I had a 1 goal minimum

Grigorenko will surprise at camp, he'll get send back, but will be a first call up after 10 games when they send samson back.

Nope he will be spending the entire season in the AHL unless he lights up camp like the fourth of July. There is no reason on this earth to put Mikhail Grigorenko on the 3rd line getting 10mins a night when he should be on the top 2 lines getting 16-18mins a night. He stays in Rochester for the duration, Tim Murray won't make the mistake Regier did.

Johan Larsson will become the 3rd line IMPO if/when Reinhart goes back to the WHL.

You think this team will score 43 more goals than last season? I have many doubts about that.

Lets put it this way. If all the top 6 forwards score 10 more goals than they did last year. This is still a pretty bad team. :P
