inkman Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 I havn't seen any games but based on reports of those who are there, Armia, Samuel-Thomas and Reinhart have all played very well. Which makes me scratch my head since they have no points and have been a line. Not sure how three of our best players can play together and not produce a single point as a line? Its hockey Quote
Marvelo Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 It is typical stuff, really. Shrink: Now, Tyler, do you feel you are seeing the ice well? Tyler: Yes, of course. Better than ever actually. Shrink: And we talked about your skating last time? Tyler: Yes, the skating feels good. Shrink: And we explored issues about the uniform.... Tyler: Yes, I know it is an NHL uniform now. .. Shrink: I hear a "but" in your tone of voice;what is the "but"? Tyler: Well, in my mind I know it says Buffalo Sabres, but I seem to play my best when I imagine it is a giant bunny suit. Shrink: Do you see yourself as a Giant Bunny, or an NHL player wearing a Bunny Suit? This is important. Tyler: Definitely an NHL player wearing a Bunny Suit. I'm human of course, but wearing a Bunny Suit. Quote

G-Daddy Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 The goaltending for us must be absolutely brutal... Afraid to ask, but what is the score? Quote
Hoss Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 Afraid to ask, but what is the score? 6-3 last time I saw Quote
G-Daddy Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 Yikes, the tank has worked its way down. Quote
Derrico Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 It's obviously just three glorified scrimmages but I must say I'm very surprised by the scores. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 Sounds to me like Tyler Myers lost his will to play when he got that big payday and no shrink is going to bring him back to being a great player Quote
LabattBlue Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 It's obviously just three glorified scrimmages but I must say I'm very surprised by the scores. ...but if the Sabres went undefeated and won the tourney, it would be "see...we have the best prospects of all organizations" ;) Quote
MattPie Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 ...but if the Sabres went undefeated and won the tourney, it would be "see...we have the best prospects of all organizations" ;) That was last year, wasn't it? Quote

sicknfla Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 ...but if the Sabres went undefeated and won the tourney, it would be "see...we have the best prospects of all organizations" ;) Exactly. Only a handful of guys from each team will see the NHL, however, when your top picks don't produce you have to take notice. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 OMG, the TANK is a BUST!! Quote
SabresBillsFan Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 Yikes, the tank has worked its way down. Now that's funny but it's alittle disturbing and puzzling thinking that this squad was loaded and them lose every game. I guess it's gonna be an eye opener for a lot of these youngsters starting their seasons. Now I really hate to say this but hopefully the real Buffalo Sabres can be competitive but finish at the bottom one last season. I don't think I could go all these years watching this. Quote
X. Benedict Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 Exactly. Only a handful of guys from each team will see the NHL, however, when your top picks don't produce you have to take notice. Disappointing, but only in the sense that you ordered pie and they served cobbler. You can learn things, but only in a movie trailer kind of way. Quote
Huckleberry Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 Zadorov got benched, cassidy didn't like his effort level. Quote
Claude_Verret Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 OMG, the TANK is a BUST!! How do you figure? From this tournament it's now clear to me that whatever youngsters make the team this year are now on board with the directive to go out there and help the team lose games on purpose each and every night. Tank on 2015! We are getting McDavid..,,GUARANTEED!! Quote
Hoss Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 We're leading in shots on goal in the tournament so far. I saw some analyst say that's a better stat to gauge how well a team is playing in this tournament than the final scores are. Quote
Derrico Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 A future Sabre that can't finish? Sounds like he'll fit right in :flirt: That's not the news I want to hear about Zads (especially when that's what it seemed like to me during the prospect camp) Quote

I saw some analyst say that's a better stat to gauge how well a team is playing in this tournament than the final scores are. I agree with that analyst. Unless you're the Devils, controlling play and generating a higher percentage of each game's chances will get you more wins over the long haul than scoring some fluky goals on weird bounces or defensive breakdowns. Stoner Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 Zadorov got benched, cassidy didn't like his effort level. "Didn't like the effort" is a comment that has never made any sense to me at this level of hockey. Why wouldn't Zadorov be trying hard enough? I've always attributed that quote to ignorance — a media member who doesn't understand the more plausible explanation for why a player or team is struggling. Coming from a coach, it's harder to reconcile. I still don't get it. If Zadorov really wasn't trying hard enough, well, there's a huge problem here. Quote
Hoss Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 Zadorov has been benched. That's the first thing that makes me a little alarmed about this tournament. That was X. Benedict, right here in this thread. :P No, it was an actual analyst on twitter haha. Not that it's a hard thing to surmise. Quote

dudacek Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 I wonder if the Sabres are concerned about the recent whispers about nIkita and that was a deliberate warning shot to get him to shape up in time for training camp. Quote
