Stoner Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 It's a good fit - last year Fox Sports deemed the Coyotes one of the 10 worst sports franchises - so they deserve the guy who made the Leino deal a reality http://msn.foxsports...&photo=30086460 Pegula's buying he Coyotes too? Quote
SabresBillsFan Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 The way that the coyotes have lost offense could mean they are in the McDavid sweepstakes. Just sayin Quote
MILFHUNTER#518 Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 My question is, how will the NHL Board of Governors address the Coyotes blatant "tanking" of the 2014-15 season. I can't wait til the press conference announcing the Villie Leino signing. This :flirt: . I wonder if Tim Connelly is on his radar as well Quote
blugold43 Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 I was going to pile onto Darcy by bringing up Tsyplakov, then i saw that glistening deadline deal brought the Sabres 13 goals in 70 games played in 00-01. It's still a shock that didn't put us over the top. Coyotes fans should be stoked. Quote

As much as I hated his last few years here, he made a lot of strong moves to help the team in his early years when he had no money to work with. If the Coyotes tank this year and he gets McDavid or Eichel, he'll probably look like a genius again. Quote
wjag Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 A clarion call has gone out to all corners of the hockey world from Arizona, bring us your meek, timid, soft players.......................... Now all that needs to happen is have Smith get a mystery ailment that keeps him out of the Fall hockey season. I'll go with a groin injury. Those seem to linger for months. Quote
beerme1 Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 So glad he's gone but am kind of shocked that he got/took a job again other than GM. I figured he would just disappear forever. er. Quote

I'd expect that he wants to be a GM again, and figured (correctly) that this was the only way back for him. Quote
Jsixspd Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 If the Coyotes want to tank, then Regier is their go-to guy. Quote
Guest Sloth Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) Arizona finished 2 points out of a playoff spot last year. They won't finish at the bottom. Yes, Arizona lost a couple of key players, but they finished ahead of Nashville, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Arizona had a 12 point advantage over Calgary and 22 points over Edmonton. The top 8 will remain the same in the west. Only thing that will most likely change is the seeding. Same goes for the rest of the conference, but not to the point where Arizona finishes last. Of course Darcy is apart of their organization now.... Edited July 5, 2014 by thanes16 Quote

It would be pretty unusual for that to happen with a new owner on the scene, plus good holdovers at GM, coach and goalie. Quote
inkman Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 If the Coyotes want to tank, then Regier is their go-to guy. He wasn't even good at that Quote
darksabre Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Arizona will finish in 9th. It is their destiny. Quote
Darryl Shannon's +/- Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I'd expect that he wants to be a GM again, and figured (correctly) that this was the only way back for him. The Coyotes are really a nice spot for an executive. If you fail, you can just blame the constraints. Any success and you look like a genius. I think he needed to be back in the game, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him on Long Island/Brooklyn when Snow is shown the door. Isles fans probably have a completely different viewpoint of him than the majority of Buffalo. Quote
LGR4GM Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 If the Coyotes want to tank, then Regier is their go-to guy. Tank and teardown specialist ? We basically got Tsyplakov for nothing. If the Coyotes tank this year and he gets McDavid or Eichel, he'll probably look like a genius again. I agree as I feel the Coyotes might be in the running for 1st overall and with Darcy there it might be just our luck they land him. Plus think about it u don't think the NHL wouldn't mind helping out a teams struggling fan base! Something to think about I am very confused  . Why are the Coyotes tanking? How are they doing it? They are basically the exact same team from last year. Adding Darcy doesn't suddenly make them worse. In the long run perhaps but right now, they are a bubble team same as last year. There is absolute nothing that suggests the Coyotes are trying to finish in last. Literally nothing. Quote

Maybe they won't be trying to tank on purpose, but with Darcy on board, it may well work out that way... Quote
