So we've seen some big movement on former Sabres today:

Christian Ehrhoff to Pittsburgh for one year, $4M.

Ryan Miller to Vancouver for three years, $18M.

Thomas Vanek to Minnesota for three years, $19.5M.

TJ Brennan to New York Islanders for one year, one-way deal.

Discuss.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun

Vanek deal includes a NTC

Vanek reportedly turned down more money/term elsewhere.

It's good to be an x-Sabre

Ryan looked subdued in his Canuck presser.

Makes sense from the family perspective, but I'm not sure if this is where he saw himself a few months ago.

He would look subdued on a Jet Ski.

Bummer. I know most folks were down on him, but I liked the guy. Yeah, he's slow and lumbering and won't play most nights, but he had a great attitude and even stepped in on D when injuries required it. (And he had fantastic eyebrows. And I wanted to see Ennis wearing his helmet.)

Poor John Scott - all he wanted was to be taken seriously as a hockey player.

#SJSharks' GM Wilson on signing John Scott: "As we integrate more younger players to our team, John's presence alone can act as a deterrent"

This is exactly what he should have been for *this* team of young players. I wasn't nearly as down on him as others either, he made the best of what he had. I don't mind Cody Mc, but no one is going to think twice about doing something that requires answering the bell to him.

And he was a great locker room presence.

I liked Scott too. Problem was that he couldn't even look at an opposing player wrong without the refs coming down on him. Not sure if this was the case with other enforcers in the league, but it certainly made him less relevant.

Mud berry is right. Scott was a good guy, but the enormous target put on him by officials meant he could no longer play his role effectively.

I hope Deslauriers and Cody can handle the rough stuff.

At least Mitchell, Kaleta, Weber, Gorges, Foligno and Stewart can handle themselves and the overall lineup isn't as soft as it once was.

Hodgson Ennis and Reinhart are the only guys I am afraid for.
