Taro T Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Overpaid, but We knew we would have to. 3 years is what I'd expected. Thought he'd get the $5MM/ he had in Moe-ray-all. Quote
Brawndo Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 2m As per @SCGscott, Gionta gets NMC in first two years and limited NTC in Year 3. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 It's not like we're signing sure all-stars... But, comparing last year's roster to this year's we should be significantly more competitive. Gorges is better than McBain and Gionta is better than D'Agostini/Conacher. Ehrhoff is better than Gorges. Does Gionta and Stewart mark an improvement on Ott and Vanek/Moulson? I don't think so. Brawndo Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Bucky Gleason @TBNbucky 26s Gionta can still provide 20 goals and 45-50 points. Get him on a line with Reinhart and let the kid grow while learning how to be a pro. Quote

carpandean Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Now I don't like this as much. He is trade deadline fodder, or was. True, but being traded to a team heading to the playoffs is often a good enough reason to waive one's NMC. Quote

The Sabres just signed the Captain of the Montreal Canadians and a solid NHL defenseman with plenty of career left just waived his NTC to play for the Sabres. That has to account for something going forwarded. I would not be surprised if these two moves open up other possibilities, with players looking at the Sabres a little differently. Quote

Peca is on GR talking now. He said he ran into Toews awhile ago who asked where he lived. Peca told him Buffalo and Toews said, "Yeah I heard that's a great place to live." Quote

Brawndo Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 God I love Tim Murray. Agreed. He really improved the team today without improving the team. Quote

TrueBlueGED Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 But given your avatar, that's a good thing, isn't it? Oh most definitely. I think we're on track to be as bad as last year, but bringing in the right vets for the kids to grow up with. Loving today. Quote
