Andrew Amerk Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) I emailed Ted Black directly and asked him if he could send me one or two. I offered to pay for them and the shipping. He responded 10 minutes later with the following email from his iphone: "Let me see if I can get my grubby hands on a couple. Best regards, TNB" Back when Pegula first bought the team they handed out some white towels with Sabres logos printed on them and the date Pegula closed on the sales or something along those lines and he mailed me a couple for free. The club may not be winning but they seem to take customer services and fan appreciation to heart for sure. This is true. Every year when I request fan packs from all the clubs, the Sabres are the first ones to send me something. This year was a Zemgus magnet, a mini poster of Risto, a mini pennant, and some stickers. TrueBlueGED Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 I eagerly await Columbus claiming small market woes if there's another lockout. Between that and Foligno's deal, holy moly. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Derek Roy with 3 points after 2 periods? :o Quote
Iron Crotch Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Derek Roy with 3 points after 2 periods? :o He is still a good player and the Oilers badly needed a veteran center. Pretty good fit for both the Oil and Derek thus far. Quote

Iron Crotch Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Roy was the #1 Star in the Oilers 5-2 win against the Hawks. Roy, Yakupov, and Pouliot has been a good line so far for Edmonton. Yak scored for the first time in forever tonight. Quote

Yak scored for the first time in forever tonight. Chicago's two goals were really freaky in how similar they were. Both were scored by Saad, with Toews and Hossa each having an assist on both, but flipping primary/secondary, and both were a 2 on 1 where Saad was the guy without the puck and who tapped in a rebound off the pad after the guy with the puck (Toews on the first, Hossa on the second) shot it. Huckleberry Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Yeah, he's the biggest turd in the toilet. Impressive. Time to start rooting for the big turd :P To be honest i always liked Roy, but he never should have been a 1C, he can excell as a 2C though. Quote

Iron Crotch Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) Matt Cooke went after Shea Weber toward the end of the Preds - Wild game. That was a bad idea. Shea is a powerful man. ;) ...and now Mike Fisher just rained a bunch of blows onto the face of Nate Prosser. Apparently, the Wild suck at fighting. Edited January 10, 2015 by Potato Quote
Hoss Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 The Wild are a weird bunch, but I do think they should be far better than this. Yeo needs to geo. Quote

It is hilarious that the complaints out of Minny are the team shows no emotion. And, they complain that Vanek is aloof and doesn't play defense. Sounds all too familiar. Our team is awful, but I think we can all agree that building around Vanek and Pommer was never going to get us a Cup. Quote
Hoss Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) The "building around" stuff is so overdone. You can have players on your team without building around them. There's not always a couple of players that are built around. It's just a group of players working collectively towards a goal. There are very few players that I think are good enough to be "built around." The Wild definitely aren't building around those two. They're just part of the team. The guys with the monster salaries and long-term contracts are the guys that the team is "building around." Simple as that. Vanek, Pommer, Parise, Suter, and Koivu are the "core" in Minny. The Wild aren't paying Vanek $6.5 million per to score 7 goals and post a -9 in 40 games. He is a big reason they're in 12th place in the West. Quote
Hoss Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Vanek is getting $6.5M for three seasons. Hardly a monster contract. Pominville got 5 years, $5.6M... That's absolutely not monster. Those are building block deals. No center pieces. Quote
darksabre Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 No team with Pominville and Vanek is winning anything. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) No team with Pominville and Vanek is winning anything. Yep. Vanek had a breakaway today and instead of shooting tried a no look back pass... went right to the Preds defender (see below)! Stuff like that drives a coach mad. LGR4GM Posted January 11, 2015 Author Report Posted January 11, 2015 Selanne's jersey is going to be retired tonight. First in Anaheim history. I am not sure if any one else ever wore #8 in Anaheim history, Selanne joined the team 2 years after it was created. Quote
