Stoner Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Most of the awards wind up going with stupid trends like this, kind of like the Norris. Some day they will create an award that can actually go do a defenseman who actually plays defense. Far too often they just hand it to the highest scorer out there. It is for the best "all-round" defenseman. Maybe they need the Selke equivalent for best offensive defenseman. Quote

shrader Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 No. I just thought of it. Are you having one of your senile moments again where you think something that you did 40 years ago just happened yesterday? You typed that post on a typewriter, didn't you? Quote
Stoner Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 win You didn't hear my idea. The John Van Box Schmear. Quote
LabattBlue Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 I honestly wonder if coaches and players really care about some of these awards. The do if they have significant bonuses in their contract for winning any of them. ;) Quote

Marvelo Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 The collapse of the Russian ruble has dealt the KHL some hard times. Looks like some players haven't been paid since October. Maybe this would be a good source of raiding players...? http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/khl-threatened-by-russian-ruble-s-collapse-1.2877879 Quote
shrader Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 I didn't see mention of this earlier this week, but maybe I missed it. Did anyone see the stadium series jerseys that LA introduced the other day? Quote

LGR4GM Posted December 18, 2014 Author Report Posted December 18, 2014 So the NHL jets have their top 4 defenders out with injury. They are desperate for defenders... Quote

MattPie Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Dang. If only there were an NHL team whose coach had eastern European connections..... From the one article I read, it sounds like Diamo Riga (the Latvian KHL team) doesn't use Rubles, so it's fine. I don't know if there are many Latvian players on other KHL teams though. Quote

dudacek Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 The jersey actually has a pretty cool, Roaring 20s vibe. The whole package is disgusting. Quote
