Before last year, the Panthers have been outside the bottom 5 in attendance for as far back as I bothered to look (2000). Sometimes well outside. Glendale has been near or at the bottom for a while.

Bob McKenzie is doing a Twitter Q&A. He just said he thinks there will be 33 teams by 2020. Doesn't believe the league cares about having an even number. Seattle, QC and Vegas his predicted expansions.

An even number isn't necessary--there were 21 teams for a long time--but does he think there's enough talent to go around to 33 teams by 2020? Because there isn't enough talent for 30 teams now.

I'm a little torn on the talent part. I would be willing to bet that a few extra teams would lead to some guys who were viewed as AHL or lower for life turning into legitimate NHL players. There is talent that is missed because of bad decision makers and scouts in certain franchises. A few more teams wouldn't hurt, I don't believe.

John Scott just scored for SJ... at least that's what twitter says.

Yeap. Stole the puck and walked it in. Fired it over the shoulder. Looked like he knew what he was doing almost.

Since when does the NHL care about quality product on the ice? You know better than that!

There are enough hacks in the NHL already. Nothing turns them into legitimate NHL players except that they make the NHL by default. It's like holding tryouts and keeping everyone because you didn't have enough to cut anyone. Sure, they are on the team but that doesn't mean they should be.
