SabresBillsFan Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 Eh, they're the Islanders. They can ALWAYS finish bottom five. That's true but I doubt it. Has anyone heard if any of the 2014 picks are going to make an nhl roster full time this season? I know Bennett sounds like he might get a few games but haven't heard much from any other picks. I know Philly just signed their 1st rounder. Quote
Cereal Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 The Boychuk trade is bad for the Sabres both ways.... Isles immediately get better, and Bruins get TWO 2nd-round picks.... TJ Brennan on the move to Chicago from NYI in the Leddy trade. Quote
Stoner Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 In the "greater than the sum of its parts" category, the Isles' moves (including addressing their issues in goal) would seem likely to light a fire under this lineup. Believing that your GM knows what he's doing and that ownership is trying to win can go a long way. Quote
Claude_Verret Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 Eh, they're the Islanders. They can ALWAYS finish bottom five. Yep. Quote
shrader Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 I'm not so sure how much it helps adding dmen when still don't have any legit top pairing guys. Quote
Hoss Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Adrian Dater of the Denver Post is going off on Brayden McNabb on twitter. Says that he's useless outside of cheap headshots and insulted his "miserable" NHL stats... Quote

Huckleberry Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Leddy and Boychuck improves the islanders top 4 defense, but they still don't have #1 - 2 caliber defenders. Oh well time to break out the JT Voodoo doll again  Quote
Eleven Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 I see some laughing at him for acquiring a year of Boychuk for all that. Count me among them. Eh, they're the Islanders. They can ALWAYS finish bottom five. Absolutely. Quote
Huckleberry Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Was well played by the bruins getting that much for an UFA they wouldn't be able to sign after this season. Still feel like all they got is marginal top 4 Defenders coming from good teams. I can see them both performing less on a bad team. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Making room for Fucale? http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/canadiens-deal-peter-budaj-to-jets-1.2788295 Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 No. Tokarski. Sure. For one year, or so. Quote
Hoss Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Sure. For one year, or so. Maybe. But the Budaj trade has nothing to do with him since he wasn't going to be around by the time Fucale is ready. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 Maybe. But the Budaj trade has nothing to do with him since he wasn't going to be around by the time Fucale is ready. FUCALE was ready the day he was drafted. Never doubt the NS hype machine :worthy: Quote

Believing that your GM knows what he's doing and that ownership is trying to win can go a long way. We'll see. Adding Boychuk and Leddy are really huge upgrades, but any NHL defense men would have been a huge upgrade. I think they are better, but still organizationally thin. Better than the Sabres though, especially up front. Quote

LGR4GM Posted October 6, 2014 Author Report Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) and during the 11th hour... NHL Blue Jackets #CBJ have agreed to terms with C Ryan Johansen on a 3-year contract. Official announcement to come. Also William Nylander will be heading back to SHL to play for MODO. Edited October 6, 2014 by LGR4GM Quote
Hoss Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) The Panthers just named Willie Mitchell captain... Would hate it if I were a Panthers fan. Probably a stop-gap while Huberdeau or Barkov get ready to step in. Edited October 6, 2014 by Tankalicious Quote

LabattBlue Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 The Panthers just named Willie Mitchell captain... Would hate it if I were a Panthers fan. #1 Who cares who the captain is? #2 For a young team, why wouldn't the coach pick a vet? #3 Maybe Willie Mitchell is a great leader on and off the ice? Quote
Taro T Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 In the "greater than the sum of its parts" category, the Isles' moves (including addressing their issues in goal) would seem likely to light a fire under this lineup. Believing that your GM knows what he's doing and that ownership is trying to win can go a long way. They now at least have both an an NHL caliber D corp and goaltending (unfortunately) but it's difficult to believe anyone (even those toiling on the Isle) believes Garth knows what he's doing. Quote
WildCard Posted October 7, 2014 Report Posted October 7, 2014 Staal out, and now Skinner has a concussion. Not sure he'll be out too long, he took a forearm to the head from Matt Niskanen. Is there really any doubt Carolina will win the race to the bottom this year? Here's the video, close-up at the 35 second mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbEGbSgwRtc Quote
Weave Posted October 7, 2014 Report Posted October 7, 2014 I think Carolina has last place just about locked. Quote
