dEnnis the Menace Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 And it will become a better host. That said, if I were a kid, I'd want to go to Placid. It smells better there. I love Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and the surrounding area. There's nothing like it that I've seen, smelt, or experienced before. It's so surreal. Quote

Jsixspd Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Wow, this didn't even rate a WGR text message alert. LOL Quote
inkman Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Wow, this didn't even rate a WGR text message alert. LOL I guess for the athletes involves this is big news (is it really any different for them?) but for everyone else it's rather ho hum. Quote
LTS Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 I thought Team USA was going to announce their new jerseys were designed by the same people who did the Sabres turd jerseys this year. Oh well.. the announcement is way better than that. Quote
Eleven Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 I don't think this is a major announcement at all, but I cannot wait to see sledge hockey live. Quote
LastPommerFan Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 I don't think this is a major announcement at all, but I cannot wait to see sledge hockey live. I think anytime a rink lands a world championship it is a major announcement. I'm right on board with you on the sledge hockey. And this isn't just live sledge hockey, this is the very best sledge hockey in the world. Quote
sabills Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 I don't think this is a major announcement at all, but I cannot wait to see sledge hockey live. Yeah. Weren't a couple of the sled hockey guys from the Olympics this year from the Buffalo area? Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Yeah. Weren't a couple of the sled hockey guys from the Olympics this year from the Buffalo area? Yep. Quote
X. Benedict Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) I think it's cool. Women's hockey has become quite entertaining. Sledge hockey is a different animal all together. World Championships are great news for Buffalo. Not only for themselves, but smaller steps to bigger stuff. Edited May 28, 2014 by X. Benedict Quote

dudacek Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Women's hockey of the Canada/US variety is great. If lived in Buffalo, I'd go. Quote
MattPie Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Women's hockey of the Canada/US variety is great. If lived in Buffalo, I'd go. Legions of 18-22 year olds in Buffalo are learning the phrase, "Is your older sister here in Buffalo?" in various languages. Quote

Lock down these smaller tournaments, knock them out of the park, and then work your way up to the big stuff. If these events are success, they're the first step in a bright future. Quote

Brawndo Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl 55s USA Hockey has no plans to relocate headquarters or teams to Buffalo, sources say. Speculation arose with today's "major" news conference. Quote

Speculation arose with today's "major" news conference. I think it's important that USA Hockey is showing faith in HarborCenter. If HarborCenter realizes its potential I think it's just a matter of time before USA Hockey does relocate to Bflo. Quote
Jsixspd Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 All joking aside, it's a good thing and a positive for the community. Hope it's the start of more such events in the future. Quote
spndnchz Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Have you guys seen the inside roof of that rink? Really cool. Quote

Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 I'd check out the sled hockey....they beat the tar out of each other...old time hockey. Does downtown and the HC hotel in particular have the infrastructure to host a few hundred disabled athletes? I'm sure they make due, but it would be nice for them not be bussing all around town. What does a Marriott have...8 accessible rooms and 2 elevators? Quote
