Halak is inconsistent but I think they will have better than average goaltending this year. Boychuck is solid in his own end and Leddy I believe is coming into his own now. As much as I want the Islanders to fail both of these moves help their defense.

I still can't see them making the playoffs, to few spots and they seem to be a middle contender.

Atlantic

Boston,Montreal,Tampa Bay

Metro

NYR, Pittsburgh, Spot A

Wild Card

Detroit (We may as well assume it at this point)

Spot B

Spot A would have Washington, NYI, Columbus, Philly, and NJD fighting for it

Spot B would have A + Toronto, Florida?, Ottawa?

I just can't see them fitting in in that scenario

Really?? I think your sadly mistaken. Boychuck when healthy is solid and Leddy is still young and coming into his own.

My comment was pointing out how terrible they were before. They are better but let's not get carried away.

I sneered at the "kids coming" and "russian additions" because of their D.

Those are two NHL defensemen. Still don't see them as a playoff team, but those two will definitely help.

Also, I wouldn't have been in on Leddy so much because of all our young D, but I wonder what the price would have been to bring Boychuk to Buffalo?

Boychuck's got a great swing. He'll hit a lot of long balls in this league.

I'm still ticked at Swamp for saying that two-hander was no big deal, part of the game, didn't even deserve a penalty, happens 100 times a night and so on.

Jack Eichel with five assists in his Boston U debut.

It's only an exhibition game against a canadian university. Those tend to be laughers.

Yea, sorry. Should've mentioned that part. Still nice to see. Dominate when you should.

A player that could go anywhere from early 2nd to the 3rd or 4th round but is someone to watch. At the Ivan Hlinka tourney he had 5g, 6a in 5 games. He will be going from Minnesota High School to Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL and then to college at University of Minn. His shot is considered average but he has excellent hands and is a determined player not afraid to stick up for himself.

So far for Waterloo this season he has 2a in 3games.

Tom Novak, C 6' 181lbs– A top name from the Minnesota high school ranks, Novak had a wicked wrister for a goal in the all-star game and showed a lot of offensive awareness. Playing for St. Thomas Academy this past season, Novak was pushed more, as the private school moved up to Minnesota’s more challenging high school circuit after years dominating the smaller league.

“In years past we usually had a pretty easy road to the state tournament,” he said. “We shut out our section last year. This year we had an overtime game and then lost in the final. It was a good step up and the program needed it.”

Evgeni Svechnikov (my personal favorite) up to 15 from 18

Evgeni currently has 5g, 12a in 9 games played in the Q.

Lingering mental anguish from losing to my fantasy team I see :P

Well I got a lot of that as I've lost to everyone but one sorry SOB. I'M in 3 other leagues and I'm 3-2 or 4-1 in those leagues. This one just didn't pan out. Usually works out that way, one league every year I ###### the bed. I thinks the odds dictate it.

For sure. At least you ended up being bad at the free league.
