More Lucic bashing? Sabres won't win jack squat until we have one. Or two.

I'd trade the Sabres #1 pick this year and next for Lucic. I doubt the Bruins would take it though.

What's your attachment to this man child?

Monster/25-30 goal scorer, what's there to like?

He really showed up for the playoffs didn't he?

The job the Canadians did of not letting the Bruins dictate play can not overstated. That said, the Sabres do not have an asset available to them I wouldn't give up for Lucic.

So he was easily neutralized? That's just the kind of player I want.

You shouldn't let the Bruin jealousy blind you to some of the better players in the league. Lucic is the equivalent of everything Sabre fans have been begging for in a player for decades now.

I'd do that trade for about 10 5 players in the league, more-or-less. Lucic isn't the guy you build a franchise around. He's someone the Penguins need, not the Sabres.

Look around the league. The idea of picking one guy and building around that player is dead and gone. You amass talent. Lucic is a talent unlike any other in the league right now and he is only 25.

How does giving away two top 5 picks help you amass talent?

By securing one the most effective and unique talents in the NHL today.

It's a two-for-one trade and you just said you can't built your franchise around one player in the NHL anymore.

I wouldn't be. 2 for 1 can be a great deal depending on the one. You don't think the Oilers would give up Nugent-Hopkins and Yakupov (two #1 overall picks) for Lucic?

So you're advocating the Oilers remove their core to build around one player?

I advocate adding Lucic to a forward ranks that will include Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and David Perron. The Oilers become a team that others will need take notice of. Part of building a team is maximizing assets. Yakupov and Nugent-Hopkins will never bring to the Oilers what Lucic can.

You end up with a stronger more effective core.

All that gives you is an outside team with a neanderthal patrolling the boards. All of those players are wingers, and if the DR era taught us anything it's that centers should be the highest priority.

Lucic is great because he plays in a system that is perfect for him. He's on a fourth line with Jarome Iginla ffs. He is a perfect playoff player in that he's physical and he can provide offense, but he's nowhere near the guy you go out and grab if you're a bottom 5 team.

Trading our top two first rounders in 2014 and 2015, I'd want one of these players:

Crosby

Toews

Kane

Getzlaf

Stamkos

Even then I'd be weary in doing that trade because the Sabres aren't just one player away from contention. Hell they're not even one player away from the playoffs

WildCard, do you think the objective of hockey is to score goals or something? You win by punching people.

Trading Bennett/Reinhart and a top 5 pick in the deep-at-the-top 2015 draft to the Bruins for Milan Lucic would be the surest way to assure Bruins success in the future and Sabres failure.
