That Aud Smell Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 It wasn't desperate enough. Desperation is what is winning games right now. Meh. Lack of desperation is a popular narrative point. But this wasn't a situation where he failed or refused to extend himself, to push himself to a dangerous place or do something out of character (i.e., a situation where he should have played "more desperately"). Shatt hesitated, he was uncertain for a split-second. IMO, that does not equate with being insufficiently desperate to make the right play. He appeared to be doing everything he could to make the right play there -- he just failed to do it -- largely because #88 made an elite offensive play. Quote
Eleven Posted April 24, 2014 Author Report Posted April 24, 2014 Shattenkirk completely misread the play. He's defending Kane and the other Blues players manage to backcheck enough to put sticks on the other Blackhawks players Kane would pass to. The right decision, as soon as that pass is in jeopardy, is to go at Kane and force him. Shattenkirk second-guessed his teammates and it cost them. Great analysis. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Yes, you read that correctly. If he were Russian, he'd be getting *killed* in the media. Malkin hasn't scored in 8 straight so I guess we have to wait one more game. :P Quote
elj4176 Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Well, he singlehandedly pissed away game 4, that much is for sure. And did I read this right? 9 playoff games straight now where Crosby hasn't scored? The goal to send it to OT should not have happened. I find myself routing for CBJ in this series but I'm not sure if it's because I like the grit they are playing with or if I just have that much dislike for Crosby. Quote
nfreeman Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Fleury has been and will continue to be Pittsburgh's Achilles heel in the playoffs. Not sure why haven't figured that out yet. Uh huh. It blows my mind they didn't try to get Halak or Miller. I think that not trading for Miller, and blowing yet another year of Crosby's and Malkin's prime because of Fleury, was a firing-level offense by Shero. Quote
ubkev Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I think that not trading for Miller, and blowing yet another year of Crosby's and Malkin's prime because of Fleury, was a firing-level offense by Shero. Their coach sucks too... Quote
sabre snipe Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Where has nyquist been this series? Hottest guy in the nhl going into the playoffs And Gustavsson looks realllll shaky early on. Not good Edited April 25, 2014 by sabre snipe Quote
WildCard Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 If Detroit loses this game I'd say the series is over. Really wish the NYR-Philly game was on tonight instead of the SJ-LAK game. It's the only series I have yet to watch one game of, I just find both of those teams wholly uninteresting Quote
sabre snipe Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Nice shot Marchand!!! Did ur nose get in the way?Whew! Quote
plenzmd1 Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) "Are there angels in this outfield".....I know some guys hate em, but i love Doc It could happen Edited April 25, 2014 by plenzmd1 Quote
kishoph Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 If it wasn't for 5 or 6 player on the team and the fact they are from Boston, I might like the Bruins. Bertuzzi did a nice job in front of the net on Detroit's goal. It seems like he's been in the league forever. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Let's go wings.... Keep that lead....I hate Boston with a fierce passion Quote
kishoph Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 How the hell do they allow Cyranose to grab people far away from the play ? he lost his stick, went to the point and just grabbed the guy and held him, while the puck was in deep. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 That call on bertuzzi was absolute crap.. Must be nice to be chara.... Cost the wings a goal there Quote
... Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 This Minnesota Colorado series has become the best series this round. Each game has been electric. Quote
nfreeman Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Their coach sucks too... Well, he sure didn't cover himself in glory in Sochi. Still, I think the goalie crisis is on Shero. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Detroit just doesn't have the horses to keep this series close.... Blown 2 goal lead and they look outplayed out there Quote
sabre snipe Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 FFS lucic again!? Detroit coming out incredibly slow Quote
sabre snipe Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Marchand with another missed wide open net! Wow John scott would've had those two goals Marchand right now... Edited April 25, 2014 by sabre snipe Quote
SwampD Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 It's nice to hear Doc actually call a game, and not babble on about some player's pee wee coach's sister who runs a hockey camp for girls who… Still can't stand him, though. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Doc is hit and miss for me, sometimes he has some quirky one liners that make me chuckle and other times I think he missed his dose of medications lol Love watching the bruins miss open net, Cmon Detroit pull this out for me Quote
