A smart horseplayer breaks bets down in tickets that come under taxable limits when possible. You make the same bet on multiple tickets and you cash in one swoop....you owe taxes. BTW, not betting Preakness..just see no value in it at all..but will watch I haven't played much last 2 days...off turf most of the time. Then they got the bright idea to ride RETIRED FEMALE jockeys for an allowance race in the 3rd yesterday......horse winning by 5 got pulled up 100 yards before the finish and lost. I shut the computer down then..... I'm playing Social Inclusion/ Bayern Quote

plenzmd1 Posted June 5, 2014 Author Report Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) GoDD...wife going away on Saturday, so have some time to pay attention and actual bet a card. I have had a decent/good run in the casinos last couple of weeks and have a few extra shcekles for the race on Saturday. Thinking with the crowds at Belmont you can steer me to some winners with a price on the turf and help relieve a bunch of drunk New Yorkers of their cash. Thank you in advance...beers on me if you are at the Bills opener or first Sabre game on a doubleheader weekend Edited June 5, 2014 by plenzmd1 Quote

Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 OK....let's lose some money... Belmont 6:50PM 1st Race 11:30AM Race 1 - Skip Race 2) #5 Misconnect (5-2) - #7 Legend (4-1)........No real value but I think Misconnect will be fine going longer and can go to the lead or sit. Race 3) #7 Bigger is Bettor (30-1).......taking a small stab at a longshot. A mile and a half is not common, so you never know who gets it. Grand Reward is one of the few sires who has horses improving into their older years. It's hard coming off a layoff and going 12f, but I will put a few bucks across the board. Race 4 Turf) #5 Anyriderill Do (20-1) - #10 Marchman (7-2)......The horse came off almost a year layoff...is 4....got left at the gate...is stretching out...and closed the 5th furlong in 11 seconds and lost by 1 last race. He needs to get a good start and improve, but I can find a length or 2 for every point I made and for the odds, will be ripe. He probably comes in 4th and loses by 3, but at that price is worth a shot. I was hoping Marriedtothemusic was in as I have been waiting 2 years for him to try turf, but he went today on dirt. Race 5) #6 Embelishing Bob (8-1) - #1 Bayern 9-2)........Love the pedigree for the distance. Ran well at 6 and a mile, but 7 is perfect. Hooking him up with the horse from the Derby Trial he finished 1-2 with....who I like a lot. Race 6) #8 My Miss Sophia (6-5) - #1 Fashion Plate (8-1)......coming back with my Oaks picks. After both had gate incidents, I am just throwing out the race for Fashion Plate. My Miss Sophia is just special and I figured they would get smart and start bringing her down in distance. Other nice horses...and again, the filly crop this year has more quality than the males.....Depending how my day is going, may do a stupid exacta 3/1 ratio. Race 7) #6 Princess of Sylmar (8-5)....won't play straight, but will use in multi race bets. Thinking of singling Sophia and her first 2 legs of pick 6 then going deeper later. Race 8 Turf) #5 Coffee Clique (5-1) - #8 Waterway Run (6-1)....going back to horse that won for me Derby Day. No reason not to keep improving. Race 9) This thing is awesome. The Met Mile is huge for breeders as milers usually make the best sires....so you always get a good field, but this is tough. I may go for big balloons and try #2 Vyjack (20-1). He is bred for this distance, looks like a miler, likes the track, and is under the radar. Really though...almost anyone can win, even though Palace Malice is a decent favorite. Race 10 Turf) #10 Chamios (8-1) - 3/4/8 ........I like this one. 2nd off a layoff...4yo...top turf trainer..... Race 11) #11 Tonalist - #5 Ride On Curlin - #2 California Chrome - #2 Samraat.......Don't love it at all. I enjoy a Triple Crown shot, but this will be the 1st time I am actively rooting against it. It would be like Ryan Miller winning league MVP. Tonalist is a grinder. He has a little turn of foot, but not explosive. Ride On Curlin is probably the best overall of these for this, but he is worn down a bit. Race 12 Turf) #11 Shining Copper (5-1).....Love this one. First time Pletcher for a 4yo and first time lasix. Keying with the 12-3-7. Race 13) #6 Confrontation (6-1) - #4 Bad Hombre (20-1)....Both these horses like the track, are running the ideal condition and can improve. Could be a bomb exacta. Don't love anything of value big time....but a lot of ok plays. Hopefully 1 or 2 hit. Good Luck....and don't wager more than you can afford to lose....... Quote
plenzmd1 Posted June 7, 2014 Author Report Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) Thank GoDD, i really do appreciate you taking the time to analyse the whole card day in advance, and then the time and effort to post them !!!!!!Awesome Forgot i have to attend a graduation party this afternoon, but no worries, have the Twinspires App on the phone and that thing works great! god i love technology when it works! as you know, i will be pounding all of your turf picks, and love the fact you feel strong on the 12th..something to do after the big race is over. My Dad was a big fan of the ponies, and he and my Mom whiled away plenty of days at the track just watching the horses and having fun spending time together.Today would have been their 60th Anniversary, so i know they are watching and hoping for good day for all of us ! Aww man...sentimental story makes for a good day for a Triple Crown. The 12th can be used to hook up exotics if you like California Chrome. You might get a $20 double instead of $3.20 to win. F### Wes Welker! Rosie gave the longshot a bad ride....checked about 2 lengths then couldn't decide to either hit the rail or go wide. Didn't matter much but Welker blows my exotics again. Quote

plenzmd1 Posted June 7, 2014 Author Report Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) Wicked Strong I just find it so hard to bet something that Bostonians will claim again as a win...but i think you are right Millbank. I am betting lots of small triples without Chrome, biggest ones keying the 9. could be betting a lot if the 5 and 8 figure into the 8th race. Guys on TVG sloppering all over the 10, so i am taking the 5-8 that GoDD suggests with lots behind them. Also, one bet with the 10/5-8 both exacta and triple Also taking a small stab at the pick 4 using GoDD picks.... my pick 4 5-8/1-2-9/6-10-5/2-4-9 And officially out of money Frigg Dwight....does he win???????? please tell me he has the BOB Yes he does!!!!alive in the Pick 4..and the win gives me $100 back to bet! off to the graduation party..will not be posting till after the Belmont...Will have to take peeks at the phone so everyone does not think i am a total degenerate .Good Luck All. wjag Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) This is crazy. I was a teenager the last time the Triple Crown was won. I remember watching the race with my mother (who is horse crazy) and jumping up and down as it happened. And nothing since. Crazy. Edited June 8, 2014 by wjag Quote
Taro T Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) Interesting rant by CC's owner. Plenz, Dwight, and any other big fans of the ponies: do you agree that only horses that race the Derby should be allowed to race the other 2? I don't expect that I agree, but I don't follow 'em very closely. Could definitely have my opinion swayed on this one by a persuasive argument. Edited June 7, 2014 by Taro T Quote

In terms of your suggestion...for me i would say keep it the way it is. There is a reason being a Triple Crown winner is so special..and part of it is beating all comers at all times. Rough day for me at the windows....but there will be more days and more races. GoDD, promise not to bother you to Breeders Cup ...then i need another breakdown. I am sure the end of this thread, and again thank you! Quote

Sour grapes, and he sounded like an idiot. Half of the Belmont field is horses that didn't race in the other two…EVERY YEAR. Mostly because few owners want to continue to pay big entry fees on non-winners, and partly because some (few) trainers train for that distance specifically. He needs to shut up, sell some Quaker oats, and take the rest of the adult home up on the spaceship. Edited June 8, 2014 by Eleven Quote
