Andrew Amerk Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 So if you didn't care to spell Reinhart's name right because you didn't want him, why don't you spell Bennett's name correctly? ;) Just messing. ZING! Quote

thewookie1 Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 If Grigo put up 50 points he will be traded for more value. GMTM does not like Russians. I doubt he trades Zadorov since he fits Murray's type of player to a T. Grigs sink or swim may be on the block but I doubt he'll just jettison him. Quote
ROC Sabres Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 It's easier for a guy like Girgensons to crack the line up because expectations aren't as high for him. A 1st rounder that they traded up for doesn't have as high expectations? Quote
darksabre Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 A 1st rounder that they traded up for doesn't have as high expectations? He's a different player from Grigorenko entirely. Girgensons major advantage over Grigorenko is his skating. That's why he's in the lineup. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 If Grigorenko can round into top-6 form within the next 3 years, our rebuild will be shortened by a not insignificant amount of time. Quote
beerme1 Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Grigs is working and I am going to go out on a limb and say he makes the team again. This is off his facebook page. I think he will really have to impress to make the team and he knows it. This time. Mikhail Grigorenko 9 hours ago . Training for a month already, 219lbs and pretty much in the best shape of my life, just the beginning!!))) Quote

Hoss Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Hopefully he can still do a pull up with all that added weight. Quote

... Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 He's a different player from Grigorenko entirely. Girgensons major advantage over Grigorenko is his skating. That's why he's in the lineup. His skating is an advantage, but his maturity level, mental make-up and wisdom, put him far above Grigorenko. Indeed, that puts Girgensons well above most of his teammates. That said, I still believe that the BS Grigorenko went through was much more helpful to him than it appeared. The boy got a heavy dose of reality, and at the end of the season was still trying to do something with himself. My outlook for Grigorenko is still pretty high, and seeing his FB entry only helps with that. If he doesn't get a spot out of camp, we're going to see him get called up at some point next season. I bet he'll look a lot different than he did the last time we saw him in a Sabres sweater. Quote

inkman Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 I hope Grigs finally has the right mindset and is going to go get it. If he turns into a solid top 6 player, this franchise maybe be a year or two further along in the rebuild. Quote

LGR4GM Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Is Grigs planking on top of a bench press bar? Holy sh!t that is impressive. Wondering if his skating has improved as much as his strength. Elite Prospects has him listed as 201lbs, but 219lbs sounds way better. I am still really cheering for this kid, DR tried to ruin him. Quote

I'm pretty close to a NFW on this but not all the way there. But pretty GD close. Quote

Surely that's what happened, right? After all he's Russian, who we all know are lazy, and he has an ego-driven sense of entitlement we've heard about since his draft year. Seriously though, this is good to see. It probably won't be the difference between him making it and not making it (it won't hurt, of course) but maybe it will help beat back the "lazy" moniker. bob_sauve28 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Report Posted July 1, 2014 He needs to impress in Rochester before he makes the Sabres. He killed it in juniors but really didn't do anything with Americans, one step at a time. Hopefully he just keeps progressing and we see him ready to contribute in 2015-2016 season Quote
darksabre Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Basically no one here expects him to be on the Sabres this year right? Imagine the huge bonus if he did show he was ready? I'd imagine none of us are counting on that happening. Edited July 1, 2014 by d4rksabre Quote

I'd imagine none of us are counting on that happening. In 2014, I do not expect to see him in b&g. Callup in Feb/Mar - that's what I'm expecting and hoping he's playing well enough that it isn't just a couple game look-see. Quote
