TrueBlueGED Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 I didn't think it was going to be a problem but with Ehrhoff and Leino off the books, they really need to pay someone. I hope GMTM has thought this through and already has an idea of who will sign here. Prepare yourself for the contract Tyler Ennis is going to sign. Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 CapGeek @capgeek The #Sabres cap payroll is now $30.4M with 14 players signed, meaning they're $20.5M below the salary-cap floor. http://www.capgeek.com/sabres/ Quote
Taro T Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Prepare yourself for the contract Tyler Ennis is going to sign. I'd be surpised if he gets (relatively) stupid money. BUT it might have bought Orpik an extra $ MM on each year of his 2 year deal. Quote
Stoner Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Murray has said time and again, almost dismissively, he is not concerned one bit about getting to the floor. The guy should know. Come on, Murray-ites, don't get all wobbly in the knees now. Quote
Eleven Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) What is a Murray-ite? Are you now skeptical of people who like the new GM, too? Is there anyone of whom you would not be skeptical? The guy has been here for 171 days. Let's give him a chance before getting cynical. Edited June 29, 2014 by Eleven Quote

Iron Crotch Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 I think it is pretty obvious how we'll add salary. With the cap at only $69 million, several teams will need to shed a contract or two to get breathing room under the cap. We'll be the league's dumpster for shedding salary. I doubt free agent will want to sign in Buffalo, so we'll have to add salary via trades. Quote
shrader Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 You can count on some of the kids (Reinhart, Ristolainen, and Zadorov) being on the NHL roster so that their bonuses count towards the cap. Quote
wjag Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Clearing Ehrhoff off is making room for a mega bid to Stastny. Quote
ROC Sabres Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 I can't believe no one has pointed out the obvious solution... Extend Stafford  Quote

Iron Crotch Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Give John Scott 1 year at $13.8 million. Done. ;) Quote
Brawndo Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 This is how they can do it. A player with a large cap hit and a NMC who is not in that teams plans next season can be traded to the Sabres for the sole purpose of buying him out. This will get the Sabres to the cap floor and as mentioned by Eleven might curry favor with the NHLPA Quote

Like how in the NBA teams take on expiring contracts in trades s other teams can have more wiggle room with their cap... Wonder what Murray is going to want for doing this from those teams... Quote
spndnchz Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 I see $5Mill left to reach the floor with Ennis still out there. He'll most likely get $4mill per. We need another D-man, so there ya go... Quote

dudacek Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 I was just trying to add this up. With Ennis and Reinhart, we are pretty much there. Quote
Eleven Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 So we probably can close this thread soon. Quote
