Johnny DangerFace Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Deslauriers is an offensive defensemen who is having a great year in the AHL Quote
Samson's Flow Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Nicolas Deslauriers, to be exact. Defenseman in Manchester. I was typing out his name from memory. Wow did I butcher that one  Quote
Samson's Flow Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Talent write up from HF on Fasching: Talent Analysis Fasching is your prototypical big power forward. He has great hands for a player with his size and is a surprisingly good skater with a powerful stride. He works well in the corners and is not afraid to muck it up in the dirty areas of the ice and in front of the net. He was an all-situations player for the USNTDP and showed great promise as a skilled two-way player, penalty killer, and leader. Consistency has been an issue with Fasching, but if a team can get him dialed in and playing every shift and every game with the same intensity he has a lot of promise. Hoss Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I don't like the McNabb trade. It seems like Hudson Fasching is the main player coming back. Is a guy who was just a fourth round pick LAST OFFSEASON really that much improved this year that he's worth a solid D prospect and two second round picks? Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 This can't be the whole poop. Doesn't LA need immediate help on D? Quote

Cereal Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 This can't be the whole poop. Doesn't LA need immediate help on D? I thought LA need offense, they're good on D. Quote
Samson's Flow Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Deslauriers looks like more of the type of defenseman that GMTM mentioned he was looking for. Trading a bigger D in McNabb for a puck moving guy who is a little further behind in the development process seems consistent with how Murray wants to makeover the team going forward. Quote
PotentPowerPlay22 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) McNabb and 2 2nd round picks for deslsurier and fasching Wow. Expensive deal for Buffalo. Murray must really really really like the two LA prospects. Deslauriers is now playing left wing. Edited March 5, 2014 by PotentPowerPlay22 Quote
LGR4GM Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 Nicolas Deslauriers: http://www.hockeysfu...as_deslauriers/ So he is now a LW? Quote
nhl2012 Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Nice. A big fella who will take the puck to the net. Husky. Good attitude, good room guy from Minnesota. Quote
26CornerBlitz Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 @SabresProspects Like Fasching pick up. 6'2"/207, bull around the net, plays w/ energy. Sabres liked him at AAPG in Buff. 12-15-27 w/ U-Minn @SabresProspects You want a good read on Fasching's character - read this: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=6145415 … … #Sabres Quote
skaught Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 So he is now a LW? Kings website says he's a D-man http://kings.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8475235 Quote
ParkMeadow Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Don't know a Fasching thing about the Gopher prospect, but I have seen Deslauriers here in Manchester. I like him, but he has been here a couple of years and not been called up. In fact, they have even played him at wing here in hopes of figuring out what his best postion is. Looks like he'll be an AHL lifer... Hope Fasching pans out. Quote
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Deslauriers looks like more of the type of defenseman that GMTM mentioned he was looking for. Trading a bigger D in McNabb for a puck moving guy who is a little further behind in the development process seems consistent with how Murray wants to makeover the team going forward. Yeah...that's the one thing that scared me a little. Considering we got a big forward back and are really loaded on D comparatively, I'm ok as long as the big picture ends swell. I fear Weber goes for a 3rd to some contender for the Jay McKee MRSA hedge..... Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I love this trade a lot. This is how you use an abundance of draft picks! Quote
Samson's Flow Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 So he is now a LW? based on the HF write up it sounds like he transitioned from D to LW last year in the AHL. Sounds like a bit of a project if he only has a year at the new position. Quote
Eleven Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I love this trade a lot. This is how you use an abundance of draft picks! Finally they stopped fasching around and got some players. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Interesting. I like acquiring power forward prospects very very much. Balances our prospect stable a bit. Quote
26CornerBlitz Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Interesting. I like acquiring power forward prospects very very much. Balances our prospect stable a bit. Exactly what Murray said he wanted to is get prospects who are one or two years into their development. More to come I'm hoping. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Great prospect. 6 points in 7 games last World Juniors. good stat to share - thanks. TM has said that he has guys ranked, and knows who and what he values. fine. it's apparent that the gopher RW (fasching) is the main piece in this deal. TM likes him. that's enough for me. for now. IKnowPhysics Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) This is the kind of trade I expect from a GM with Tim Murray's strengths. He recognizes we have depth in defensive prospects and 2nd+ round draft picks, and he acquires prospects that he believes are great and help address our prospects depth needs at forward. I hope that these are guys he's watched and have a great upside, and upon a very quick examination, they are. I'd be curious to know which 2nd round picks. Hopefully not ours.
