mjd1001 Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Kypreos saying LaFontaine is out. Seriously, someone tell us what the heck is going on. I know people may not want to report 'speculation' but just watched the local news, NOTHING mentioned, not even a word that there is a 'developing story'. As someone else mentioned, I turned on WGR a few minutes ago and it was a national show talking about the NFL. I know twitter has its place, but how about something on traditional media? Sabres just announced Lafontaine resigns, back to his old job with NHL. Thist must have been in the works for a few days. Quote
Tondas Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Grown men should be able to work this out. Quote
Byebye Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Pat Lafontaine officially stepped down as president of hockey operations. He will return to his previous role working with the nhl. Sad sad day Edited March 1, 2014 by Naulter8 Quote
darksabre Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 So essentially Pat came in as a temporary adviser to Pegula in order to help them find a GM, and is now stepping down because his job is done? Quote
shrader Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 I know the first one was with dysfunctional islanders but with two of these under his belt now, there's no way any team is going to consider him again. At least not for a long time. Quote
Norcal Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Well, PLF never said he was gonna be here forever. He said he wasn't ready to be a GM and committed to hiring the right person to lead the Sabres going forward which he did. Maybe Craig Patrick steps into the role he vacated. Seems a little selfish to do it so soon after the first major trade in TMs tenure. Thanks PLF, see ya later. Quote
Eleven Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Not the first time PLF has done something like this. I can't wait to learn the details. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Buffalo Sabres ✔ @BuffaloSabres NEWS: The Buffalo #Sabres today announced Pat LaFontaine has resigned his position with the Sabres to resume his previous role with the @NHL Expand [*] Bob McKenzie ✔ @TSNBobMcKenzie BUF announces Pat LaFontaine has resigned as president of the Sabres and returned to work for NHL head office in NYC. Kelly the Dog Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 It would be hard for me to believe that this wasn't over Nolan, but why now? Even if it was and they couldn't get over their differences LaFontaine should have stayed on through the deadline. Quote
Stoner Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Not the first time PLF has done something like this. I can't wait to learn the details. We'll get those details as soon as they release all the details about Drury and Briere. This reflects horribly on Pegula. Sorry. Quote
Tondas Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 I blame TP. I don't think he has the spine to run the Sabres. Quote
Byebye Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Something tells me Teddy has something to do with this. In my opinion we will be hiring a new coach by next season Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 We'll get those details as soon as they release all the details about Drury and Briere. This reflects horribly on Pegula. Sorry. Don't be sorry. It does. Quote
X. Benedict Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) la-la-la-la-la-laaaaaaaaaaaaaa - he left? Edited March 1, 2014 by X. Benedict Quote
shrader Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Not the first time PLF has done something like this. I can't wait to learn the details. He either jumps into bad situations too quickly without thinking or he doesn't get along too well with others in this type of setting. Either way, it reflects poorly on him. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 We'll get those details as soon as they release all the details about Drury and Briere. This reflects horribly on Pegula. Sorry. Sort of depends on why he resigned, no? Quote
Johnny DangerFace Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 I want hockey people having full control over hockey decisions. Murray is that guy for us and I want him in control. It sucks PLF is gone but no sleep lost Quote
darksabre Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 I get a strange feeling this was something already in the works but someone found out and leaked it deciding it must have been "ugly" when in fact they had no idea. Quote
pastajoe Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Mary Poppins stayed longer than PLF. Pegula is looking like the Daniel Snyder of the NHL. Quote
Tondas Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 So now TM reports to TB I guess. What happens to Patrick? Quote

darksabre Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Matt Barnaby is talking BIG talk on twitter and I don't think he knows jack squat. Quote
