Derrico Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Gold medal game baby!! Go Canada Go! Go Canada Go! Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Canada can have hockey, let's see Canada in a war against.... Well anyone really ;) Quote
bunomatic Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Ah good one woody. Canada has a proud history of wartime contributions that won't be diminished by your lack of knowledge in that regard. In fact during both WW1 and WW2 thousands of your countrymen joined the Canadian forces for a chance to go into battle long before the Americans officially declared war. But I've gone off topic. ;) I'll be getting up at 4am. Its going to be epic. Go Canada Quote
bunomatic Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Great pace to the game so far. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Backstrom out with a migraine? Some Ericsson I've never heard of is centering the Swedes' stop line? I can't imagine Canada losing this game. Quote
Jsixspd Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 There's a reason the Blackhawks are one of the best teams in the NHL, and they've got 3 Blackhawk starters on the team - Toews, Sharp and Keith. Quote
Jsixspd Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Amazing also, in looking back at the box scores - the LASTgoal that Team Canada has given up was WAY back at the 16 minute mark of the 1st period of the quarterfinal against Latvia. Canada's played 130 minutes of hockey against some of the best players in the world without surrendering a goal. That's pretty epic. Quote

I think once Toews learns how to not get knocked off his game he'll be one of the greats. He's still kind of a pretty boy who thinks he's above getting hit. It happened in last years playoffs and it happened in a game in this Olympics. Play him physically and he loses his game. Once he fixes that he'll be unstoppable. Quote
bunomatic Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Crosby on the breakaway. 2-0 Quote
Jsixspd Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Terrible play by Ericsson led to the Crosby breakaway - you can't skate thru 2 or 3 players of the caliber that were ahead of him - dump it in, don't try to play it. Quote
SwampD Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 I wonder if these two medal games wouldn't have looked differently if Rask didn't get sick. Quote
Jsixspd Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Yeah, Tukka is a game-changer. Finland looked unbeatable yesterday with him in the crease. Quote
SwampD Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 So, Crosby's helmet comes off and he makes a play on the puck and no penalty? Just sayin'. Quote

Jsixspd Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Some teams have all the luck.... or all the skill..... in recruiting, drafting, trading, etc. Boston had Tim Thomas - the Conn Smythe winning goalie - in the net for their Stanley Cup win 2 years ago. Now they have Tukka Rask..... not a bad 'backup' goalie. Quote

Oddly enough, Latvia scored the most goals on Lundquist thus far during the Olympics and is the last team to score on Price. Edited February 23, 2014 by thewookie1 Quote

Here's Toews' achievements so far, copypasta from Wikipedia; he's been on 2 Stanley Cup winning Blackhawk teams. Amazing, but he could even improve from where he is now. World U-17 Hockey Challenge MVP — 2005 World U-17 Hockey Challenge — 2005 WCHA Rookie of the Week — twice in 2005–2006 NCAA West Regional MVP — 2006 World Junior All-Star Team — 2007 Nominated for the Calder Memorial Trophy — 2008 NHL All-Star Game — 2009, 2011, 2012* All-Star selection of the 2010 Olympic Hockey Tournament[26] 2010 Winter Olympics — Best Forward[26] 2010 Stanley Cup Champion 2010 Conn Smythe Trophy winner Second-youngest to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (22 years, 41 days; only Patrick Roy was younger); youngest Captain to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. North Buffalo Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 For Millbank and all my Canadian Sabre fans, now that the US is miserably out... Go Canada. Crosby showed up..! Quote
SwampD Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 In judging from what I'm seeing today, I'm guessing it's legal in the men's game to slash the goalie's glove? Quote
Jsixspd Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 It's pretty much a done deal now.... 3-0 Team Canada well into the 3rd period. The Fat-Lady is warming up... Quote
Jsixspd Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Wow - two back to back shut outs for Team Canada. 165 minutes of hockey without giving up a single goal. That is amazing. First in with...."Sweden should have played Enroth" Like that would have made a difference Quote
