SabresBillsFan Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Just an idea since alot of people want Myers gone is to move him to forward. Let's face it the guy can skate but is soft on the backend. San Jose moved Brent Burns up to forward and he looks pretty darn good. It's just an idea. Flame away! Quote
pi2000 Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Myers will be a stud defenseman. He's been playing well lately, you don't mess with that. He's not soft either, has a great reach and uses his stick effectively. Keep him on D. Quote
bunomatic Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 What about trying him upfront like Mr. Burns ? Quote

Huckleberry Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Yes excellent move, burns a top 4 defensman is now a 3rd line checker. Lets do the same with our possible franchise #1 D Quote
Kristian Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Yes excellent move, burns a top 4 defensman is now a 3rd line checker. Lets do the same with our possible franchise #1 D But on the Sabres, Myers would be the 1st line playmaking center :P Quote
Trettioåtta Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Burns was drafted primarily as an RW. It is the position he has developed for most of his life. (although he had played D a fair few times as well). If you haven't been raised playing a position at least infrequently i think you have little hope at the NHL level. All of Myers instincts would be wrong (waiting for someone to say "they are already always wrong" - they're not) and his positioning would be all over the place. As we have seen Myers real issue is his demons in his head. He is someone who needs confidence to play well. Moving positions would obliterate his confidence as he would be making mistake after mistake (as everyone does when they first start something). The NHL is not a place to learn. It is a place to develop. In short - no. Quote
Drunkard Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 I'd give it a shot. We're the worst team in the league, so it's not like we're gonna fall out of last place. He's an offensive dman already so why not give him a chance to focus more on offense with the added benefit that he would probably end up being our most defensively responsible forward. Ordinarily I wouldn't fathom it but at this point why not roll the dice? if it ends up being a disaster we move him back. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Trade him for a forward. :flirt: Quote
