IKnowPhysics Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Alright, I can't take it anymore. Someone buy Rob Ray a thesaurus. Every time, EVERY TIME he analyzes a replay, he says either "nice job," "good job," "great job," or "excellent job." He must be stopped. I like Rayzor, but I also like good color commentary. Quote
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Uh oh....someone listen to GR today and get panties in a knot over Tyler Myers?........ Rob says, 4 free hot dogs on him. He's sure you can handle them at the same time. Quote
Hoss Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Marty Biron intrigues me as a color guy since so many have him pegged as a broadcaster. They need to get a true color guy in there and not somebody in between the boards. Quote

bunomatic Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Marty Biron intrigues me as a color guy since so many have him pegged as a broadcaster. They need to get a true color guy in there and not somebody in between the boards. I've heard Marty as a guest and this guy is entertaining. I can't remember the game but I think it was on TSN. Well spoken and loves to talk. As far as color guys go he'd be pretty colorful. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 Typical irrelevant gibberish. Please don't breed. I like Marty a lot. I think he should be on our broadcast, maybe doing some intermission analysis to start, but I could see him quickly making their way to the color commentary chair. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I like Rob Ray. He's not a journalist, he has an excuse. It's nice to have somebody speaking from the players' perspective. With the rapid decline of journalistic integrity in the professional world, somebody like Rob Ray should be the last to get criticized for his lack of vocabulary. However, I agree with the pat-on-the-back encouragements like he's talking to an 8 year old tee ball team. Pierre McGuire does it all the time with his 'go have fun out there', it irks the hell out of me. These are grown men, professional athletes. Stop talking to them like children. Rob's not the only one that does it, it happens all the time. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 I just wish he used more than the same three words to make a complimentary statement about the quality of a play. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I just wish he used more than the same three words to make a complimentary statement about the quality of a play. So, should I save that rant for a better time? :P Quote
Andrew Amerk Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I think Ray is doing a good job. Quote
SwampD Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 As long as Razor keeps improving, and he has so far, I'm fine with him. I'd still rather listen to him than Doc Emrick,… by a LOT. I don't think Biron would leave any space for the PBP. Quote
nfreeman Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Well, he is pretty early in his career. I think he's come a long way in the past few years. I'll guess that he continues to improve. Quote
darksabre Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Well, he is pretty early in his career. I think he's come a long way in the past few years. I'll guess that he continues to improve. I mean, the dude got punched in the head for a living. We've gotta cut him some slack. Quote
LGR4GM Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 every time I hear Razor say "He seen it..." I want to bash my head off a wall :wallbash: outside of stuff like that Razor isn't bad. Quote
Marvelo Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 They should let Rick and Ray get drunk and swear on the air during the game. At least this year I think it would be appropriate. Quote
SarasotaSabre Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 or his now-famous "acrost" ...... Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 I'd still rather listen to him than Doc Emrick,… by a LOT. Yes, as would I. Quote
BuffaloBorn Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I mean, the dude got punched in the head for a living. We've gotta cut him some slack. made me lol Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted January 23, 2014 Author Report Posted January 23, 2014  Classic. I don't think Rob should stop doing color commentary, I just want him to get better at it. I want him to succeed and not be let go/replaced because he couldn't hack it. That's the tone of my complaint constructive criticism. That said, I still want Marty on the broadcast. Quote
beerme1 Posted January 23, 2014 Report Posted January 23, 2014 The drinking game is no you're right. Occasionally I hear him say ya you're right and it stops me cold. What is this? Drinking game part two? We could do a lot worse than him though so I am willing to suffer with him. Razor is a good guy to boot too eh! Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 Last night's check list: he says either "nice job," "good job," "great job," or "excellent job." Check. no your right Check. "He seen it..." Check. "acrost" Check. I actually liked the work he did last night up in the booth with Dan Dunleavy. You didn't get coach or player interviews as readily as being down between the benches, but Rayzor spent more time on what Tim Murray was up to both during-game and in the intermissions. Maybe it's less distracting, who knows. Quote

Doohicksie Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 He sucks. But he's uniquely Sabres, through and through. Don't change, Rob. Quote
