Robviously Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Which one was the third goal? It was right after their second goal.
FolignosJock Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 It was right after their second goal. What a riot! Do you do birthdays?
apuszczalowski Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 What a riot! Do you do birthdays? Actually, he was right and may not have been jokingIt was pretty close to being right after their second goal.........
spndnchz Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Which one was the third goal? Also Jovanowski was offsides on his goal. I dont know how they missed that I thought so too at first. I used the DVR frame by frame and he was just on-sides. His teammate dragged the back foot.
FolignosJock Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Actually, he was right and may not have been joking It was pretty close to being right after their second goal......... "Ladies and gentleman! I've got an announcement to make. We got Jerry Lewis, and Dean Martin going to camp with us this year. Jerry tells the jokes, Dean sings the songs and gets the girl. Let's give em a round of applause." I thought so too at first. I used the DVR frame by frame and he was just on-sides. His teammate dragged the back foot. Darn. Now who do I blame for the loss?
Stoner Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I thought so too at first. I used the DVR frame by frame and he was just on-sides. His teammate dragged the back foot. May I go Ghost here? 86.3% of the time, upon further review, the linesmen are right. They really are unbelievably good, quite the contrast with most of the refs, it seems.
dudacek Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 @Robviously and all other concerned about the tank. This loss puts us 14 points behind the Panthers and pretty much clinches a bottom three finish for the Sabres. The Oilers (3 points) and the Flames (6) are sucking badly and still in this.
Iron Crotch Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I have been wondering about Nolan's strategy too. It appears he is trying guys in different roles at different times/situation to see how well they mesh, what their skills and weakenesses are and how well they can compete. I don't see this as directly related to the score of the game, but more to see how much these guys are improving in different roles. Only in the last week or two has Nolan been mixing up the lines each game and playing guys in different situations. I have to believe the new GM and Special Assistant asked him to do this so that they can get a truer evaluation of what we have.
LGR4GM Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Bill Hoppe @BillHoppeNHL No Mark Pysyk or Steve Ott at practice today. #Sabres Sounds like maybe Mark Pysyk is nursing some sort of minor injury and they are trying to get him Healthy while the can. I would guess a couple of Sabres defenders would be shipped out at the deadline making him a guaranteed starter with no chance for rest.

"Never tell me the odds!" - Han Solo If ever a franchise could screw things up, it's this one. There's still room for a 10 win streak here with Jamie McBain and Linus Omark inexplicably playing like all-stars for the first and only times in their careers. Brace yourselves.
rickshaw Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Odd but now that the team is scoring, it seems that Miller's game has dropped off. They've scored 3 goals in what, 4 straight games and they're still losing. They are playing better but if RM doesn't pick it up he won't get as much via a trade and he won't be starting for the US in the Olympics.

rickshaw Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 It is odd though that he's been average lately while the team is scoring. 3 goals for should be enough for Miller (how many games did he lose while giving up only 2?) It's better they lose anyway, so I guess it's more exciting for the fans that there are some goals now. On a side note, nice to see Myers looking better!
sicknfla Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 He isnt starting for the US. That is a foregone conclusion. Which could go hand in hand with why his play has dropped off since Quick was announced the #1.
FolignosJock Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Which could go hand in hand with why his play has dropped off since Quick was announced the #1. Quick wasnt announced as the #1......
nfreeman Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 He isnt starting for the US. That is a foregone conclusion. I don't agree at all. We are still 4 weeks or so from the medal round.
FolignosJock Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I don't agree at all. We are still 4 weeks or so from the medal round. They have wanted quick for two years. Miller played himself onto the roster but he has not played himself into the starting role. They dont want Miller to start, I think that he should be the starter and I think that he gives them the best chance to medal but I dont think USA hockey is going to go with him.
sicknfla Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Quick wasnt announced as the #1...... He wasn't "announced" as the #1 but it was very clear when the team was announced that he was the clear favorite. They pretty much spelled it out for everyone in the Burnside article.
JJFIVEOH Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Which could go hand in hand with why his play has dropped off since Quick was announced the #1. You noticed that too?

It is his job to loose. Imagine it would be a short leash if he struggles early but i see him getting the nod.

Robviously Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Now it's just getting pathetic. Just a reminder: 1/1/2011 -- Sabres are dead last in the NHL in points. 6/24/2011 -- Sabres are drafting 16th overall. But, yeah, it's nuts to think they could still screw this up with 34 games (41% of a season) left.

Not the way Miller's playing, he was downright awful last night. If he keeps it up, I imagine Howard slides into the #2 spot real soon.
