I'm thinking this will be something like 4-3 Flyers. They've been a bit hot lately despite losing two in a row. They'll get back on track with a regulation win.

I don't like seeing this:

I get that Murray just got the job and will be busy, but he has nothing more important to do right now than to figure out the future of Moulson, Miller, Ott and Tallinder. If he hasn't even spoken with Moulson yet, then when does he decide to?

Unless Murray already knows what he wants to do with Moulson.

Yea but even if we go .500 that equals out to what? Roughly 68-70pts.. That is easily good for 1-3 without the Lottery.

This is one of those situations where The Charts, especially the EC chart, are really compelling.

For as not-horrible as the Sabres have been, it's going to take a pretty concerted tank by someone else or winning streak by us to pass many teams. Also note (on the EC chart) that the team for the last dozen or so is playing roughly 93-point-pace hockey, so if nothing major were to change next year we'd be back to 7-10th place.

No way the Islanders pick lower than us. With our offense we are not playing .500 the rest of the way. Yes, they are playing hard but I predict the last 25 games will be very similar to the first 25. The post Olympic schedule is crazy and the work ethic will not be sustainable. Plus we won't have Miller.

Don't worry the tank will right itself.

That is exactly right I believe. Enjoy the semi-competitive hockey while it lasts. Its going to be very ugly without Miller, Moulson, and Ott.

Sure, but communicating that to Moulson would be the professional way of handling it.

But Murray wasn't with the team in Washington and so chances are he just hasn't had a chance to meet with players yet. That'll likely happen over the course of the next week since four of the next five are at home.

If his intent from the get go is to trade Moulson there is no way he would tell Moulson that. It would be foolhardy to tell a player that you intend to trade them. It is right up there with telling your players that you don't expect to make the playoffs.

Players will generally know whether or not the front office plans on trading them. No conversation with a pending UFA who has been all over trade talks would tell him that he's going to be dealt. Better to handle is professionally. You don't sit a guy down and say "we're trading you soon." It'd be more likely that the conversation would be "you know the position we are in, and that drives the fact that we have you on the market and are taking calls regarding your availability. We won't move you if the offers aren't significant enough, so we'd like to keep an open mind on the situation of possibly resigning you."

There have been multiple times where players have come out and said, after their trade, that they were told that they were likely going to be moved at some point coming up. It's part of the business. It allows players to prepare themselves and their families for the next step.

Obviously most trades happen where a player didn't know because some trades come up suddenly that you never expect. However, when it's a pending veteran UFA who has been all over the news it's probably more common that they're made aware of the direction the front office wants to go.

Who knew that taking no definite stance could consume so much text? You've given yourself an out for any contradictory response here.

Listening to the game on the internet. Mute NBCSN broadcast. Milbury is and always will be anti-Buffalo. Goes back to his playing days. Sabres will shock their fans and score 3 goals.

NBCS drinking game

1 drink drink everytime:

They talk down about the Sabres

They talk up about the Flyers

They say Miller and Olympics in the same sentence

They mention Murray/PLF/or Craig Patrick

Someone yells SHAAAAAUUGHT!!!!

The flyers do something egregious and the announcers brush it off as just a hockey play...

Sidney Crosby is mentioned

Someone tells a rambling story that begins "I remember..."

why all the premature ejacula speculation? Murray has been GM for barely a week and the board is calling him out for not "professionally handling" individual players' situations yet....maybe, just maybe these decisions haven't been made yet.

On my end, it seems like they've got the audio levels all hosed up. Once play starts, the noise from the ice almost drowns out Engblom and whoever is calling the game. You can't even tell what they're talking about.

Anyone who says we don't need Hodgson is crazy. Great goal all alone there

*Like*

It's not that he's a one-man scoring machine, it's that with him in the game you have that one extra quality forward, instead of a fourth liner.
