PromoTheRobot Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 I'm thinking the Sabres are sponsoring a ADM tour stop in Buffalo. I'm thinking you are correct. http://www.admkids.com/page/show/929720-usa-hockey-model-associations-program PTR
That Aud Smell Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 I'm thinking the Sabres are sponsoring a ADM tour stop in Buffalo.
LGR4GM Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl Judging by news conference backdrop, USA Hockey's "significant announcement" is return of prospects game to Buffalo pic.twitter.com/G5StqSz0yf According to backdrop "All American Prospect Game" will be in Buffalo.
sabills Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 I'm still banking on something a bit more. I could be wrong, but they seem to like to make a bang w/ these press conferences lately. EDIT: Looks like I'm wrong: "Major Announcement" @USAhockey will make in #Buffalo today is return of prospects game in September. Reported by @AdamBenigni on Sunday.
Hoss Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Don't you love "major announcement." That's cool that the game is coming back here, but that's not major.
LGR4GM Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Don't you love "major announcement." That's cool that the game is coming back here, but that's not major. I would guess they announce some sort of partnership on top of the game. Something like USA Hockey will be holding a summer camp for prospects in Buffalo once the Harbor Center is finished.
sabills Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Don't you love "major announcement." That's cool that the game is coming back here, but that's not major. yeah. its still not impossible that they're holding out on something additional, but I guess not every presser can be a blockbuster, eh? EDIT:wording EDIT:Currently: a bunch of old white guys shaking each others hands. EDIT: They better be building up to something here, long intro speech/thanking people/back patting about Buffalo and New York. EDIT: Sabres have next two years of Hockey Prospects games, 2014 and 2015.
LGR4GM Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 2 year agreement for All American Prospect game... Both in 2014 and 2015 September 25, 2014 will be this years and 2015 will be held at the Harbor Center from what it sounds like. Buffalo Sabres @BuffaloSabres NEWS: #Sabres, @FirstNiagaraCtr to host 2014 and 2015 CCM / @USAHockey All-American Prospects Games. Season Ticket Holders: This game will be included at no cost for both years. So if you have season tickets you can go for free.
PromoTheRobot Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Games are free to STH'ers. So make sure you renew your seats!
FolignosJock Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Games are free to STH'ers. So make sure you renew your seats! Thats a really really good deal
sabills Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Alot of talk of there being alot more events here in the future. Lets hope so.

Robviously Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 1. We absolutely should be the host city for the WJC again in 2018. 2. Isn't it about time we hosted the NHL draft again?
Brawndo Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 1. We absolutely should be the host city for the WJC again in 2018. 2. Isn't it about time we hosted the NHL draft again? Yes and yes. The FNC and Harborcenter are the only complexes that could host three simultaneous games. Plus the mentioning that the 2011 WJC was USA Hockey's most successful event to date should bode well for the future
FolignosJock Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 I want an All-Star game so bad. It will likely happen after the hotel is built. Currently there are not enough nice hotels in the Area.
PromoTheRobot Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Thats a really really good deal One free game? It will likely happen after the hotel is built. Currently there are not enough nice hotels in the Area. There will be a number of hotel options right next to the FNC soon.,
sabills Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 It will likely happen after the hotel is built. Currently there are not enough nice hotels in the Area. Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. Honestly, I don't want it until 2016 at least anyways. Imagine a panoramic shot of the harbor once that whole area is done? Gorgeous, and a great piece of 'free' advertising for the city.
FolignosJock Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 One free game? There will be a number of hotel options right next to the FNC soon., Two free games to see the best young talent in America.... I think that is awesome. The reason there hasnt been an all star game has been the accommodations in the area. That will soon be fixed. Before these options people were talking about the Adams Mark...... that place is a dump. I would rather stay in the Angola Motel then that place. Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. Honestly, I don't want it until 2016 at least anyways. Imagine a panoramic shot of the harbor once that whole area is done? Gorgeous, and a great piece of 'free' advertising for the city. Now if we could just tear down the sky way.......

There will be a number of hotel options right next to the FNC soon., Still won't be enough. We probably don't have the infrastructure for an all-star game, unfortunately.
FolignosJock Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Still won't be enough. We probably don't have the infrastructure for an all-star game, unfortunately. I think it will be pretty close. Especially if TPegs has a say in it which I am sure he will whisper sweet nothings in Bettmans ear to get it done. You try to keep the second richest owner in your league happy.
nucci Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Still won't be enough. We probably don't have the infrastructure for an all-star game, unfortunately. We did in '78....Obviously things have changed but still.......and I was there!!
Robviously Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Still won't be enough. We probably don't have the infrastructure for an all-star game, unfortunately. Good Lord, that is depressing.
Eleven Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 We did in '78....Obviously things have changed but still.......and I was there!! Yeah, things have...the expectations of visitors has risen greatly since then. People traveling to an all-star game expect a gala experience. Good Lord, that is depressing. Well, there really are only going to be ~100 - 150 new rooms down near the Arena, and there remains the questionable future of the Adam's Mark. Boutique hotels like the Lafayette are nice, but they really only add about 40 rooms to the total. We DO have the parking and transportation to pull it off if people want to stay at the Marriott, Millenium, etc., but I'm not sure that's the experience people expect.

The best way it would work is if they had everything down the metro line. All the setups and everything with it culminating at the water with concerts and the NHL experience stuff. I think it would be really awesome. It could work out pretty well, but it would pale in comparison to the extravagance that they have had recently. If I was Terry I would just promise the NHL that my All Star game would make as much or more than the one the previous year and if it didn't that I would pay the difference. I would bet Buffalo would show up and make it pretty awesome.
