Twenty-five, ladies and gentlemen, 25.

Past the midway point of the season, that is the combined goal-scoring total of the Sabres second, third and fourth lines.

Think about it. On average, we can count on our second line — OUR ENTIRE SECOND LINE — to score once every three or four games.

We have a whole thread dedicated to what is wrong with Marcus Foligno. The man is our fourth best goal scorer with — count 'em — five

Zemgus, the only player that every single poster on this board likes, has twinkled the twine four freaking times.

These are the projected goal scoring totals over 82 games for any forward not named Ennis, Hodgson or Moulson:

Marcus Foligno: 10

Steve Ott: 9

Drew Stafford: 8

Matt D'Agostini: 8

Zemgus Girgensons: 7

Brian Flynn: 6

Cody McCormick 3

John Scott: 3

Ville Leino: 0

One bright spot is the fact that even though Matty Ellis didn't play enough games to qualify, he is on pace for 11!

Other extras — Larsson, Porter, Adam, Konopka, Kaleta, Omark and Grigorenko — have combined 3 goals in 79 games, two of them by Girgorenko.

And this is why I have not watched 1 minute of any game since before the holidays. Lost total interest after the young guys were sent packing. Hard work or not just can't get motivated to watch.

Goal scoring or not they're in every game. Great goaltending and work their a$$ off. The hockey is night and day better than when RR was coaching, The lack of talent is sometimes enough to make you want to jump off a bridge but this is DRs legacy. Punk.

I have a feeling Leino is just gonna go BOOM! and take off on a scoring binge unseen in these parts since Patty centered Mogilny and Andrechuk.

GO SABRES!!!

On a positive note, this recent scoring spree has put the Sabres on pace to finish 4 goals ahead of the 1998 Lightning to keep from having the lowest GPG average since 1934. Now they are just on pace to become the second team since 1954 to finish below 2.00 GPG in a season.

Well that is until we get shut out in the next 3 out of 4 games ;)

The Sabres are 30th in scoring and the Flames are 29th. In order for Buffalo to move up, Calgary needs to get shut out 14 straight times. That number, of course, is dependent on Buffalo maintaining its pace of 1.67 goals per game.

I can't imagine how bad it will be once Moulson gets traded.

so we are 23.4 goals behind...... how many more games would we have won with 23 more goals....

It's really difficult to maintain that 'worst ever scoring pace' because you can only get ~1.6 gpg behind pace in a single game in the worst case but a (to date unrealized) 6-7 goal output in a single game is several goals above the pace.

God, I miss the old days. Sometime in the mid-seventies, I remember the Sabres were playing in Pittsburgh. The Sabres were down something like 6-1 in the second period. They scored once...twice...three times.... Well, the Sabres wound up tying the game in the third period. Not being satisfied with the tie, they went on to score again and won the game, 7-6. Still one of the most exciting Sabres' games ever. Hey, isn't Rene Robert still in the area?

I'm not worried about the recent "surge" in terms of the overall tank. The record setting winning streak of 2006 was just as unsustainable as the record setting putrid play of October and November over 82 games. When the end of the season comes around, we just might end up thanking DR/RR for all those games where we were run out of the rink early on.

I'm thanking him right now.

Not only has it pretty much guaranteed a top-three pick, it also got him fired.

Hireling Rolston was the best move Darcy ever made.

That must have been against the Bruins at the Aud in 83.

I miss Pominville and Gerbe. It's like they ripped away the heart and soul of the team. Even though Vanek's putting up numbers, I don't miss him and his face much. Just a feeling but I think Pegula's fracking has created bad karma for this team. I don't have much sympathy anymore for this org. I had more hope and faith with the Knoxes, Sugar Packets and even the Rigases. As a fan since the beginning I describe this administration as an empty feeling. I can't feel much at all for the owner and wish I could've been a fly on the wall when he ran desperately crying to Pat Lafontaine for help, even though he had no experience as a GM. The status quo of recycling old Sabres continues..There's a trickle down effect with the owner...I can't feel for any of these players, coaches, GMs etc. and feel it isn't mine anymore. It has been hijacked, like much of today's society. There are bright spots, like Gus but I don't hold much hope for this organization. There are plenty others who have their act together and are quantum leaps smarter than us. It doesn't pay to be small and stupid.

??? What other old sabres were recycled? If you are talking about the broadcast team you are so confused. That happens all over the league. Also Harbor Center is enough to love Pegula over. Easily the best owner in the NHL.

All through their history, the Sabres have recycled their players into the organization as coaches and related. I don't have to start naming them.

That happens in every single professional sports organization in the world.

Also every amateur sports organization as well....

Reading this, it sounds like you're the confused one.

Just for fun, I looked through the current coaches and it looks like around 5 played for the team they now coach (Roy, Carlysle, Berube, Oates, and one I forgot). A fair number never really played in the NHL. A few (3-4) appear to have never played at all a high level (Hitchcock, with his Cup, for one).
